Have you ever heard of Solipsism?
Well I just did some research on it and I have found a few things that I would like to share.
Solipsism is not a religion exactly, but a mental state. It is where everything outside your mind is fictitious and unreal. The knowledge you posses is the only knowledge and you are the only real life form.
My take on it (and please tell me if I am wrong) is, that feeling where you ask yourself “is this all a dream” where you wonder if maybe you are making everything up and nothing is real outside your head. Well some Philosophers believe that that is existence.
Now Solipsism is a conflict because if you have two different versions on it which one can be right. They both believe everything else is false there for you can not have a meaningful everlasting relationship like love at all.
One is forced to be singular. Nothing is real except one so only one is really there. How does someone who believes in Solipsism count on others when there is a chance that everything around them may dissolve to be replaced at any moment. In other words if nothing exists what would stop it from going away?
Now to a point I do believe in Solipsism, my belief is that if we are convinced of it than it has to be real. The perfect example in 1984 where O’Brien (SPOILER ALERT STOP READING IF READING 1984) explains to Winston that Winston is insane. He explains that Winston made up everything from the damning evidence of the society to the memory of him and O’Brien planning the ending of the society. He shows Winston the damning evidence then throws it in a boiler explaining that it was never there. The only thing that proves the piece of paper was there is Winston’s memory of it. Where if they convinced Winston it wasn’t, then it never was (confusing)
This is power, controlling reality makes you God and there is nothing anybody can do about it, that is why Brainwashing and things like that are so dangerous. The weirdest thing is that I Can’t find a problem with it. It is true; if you can convince enough people then there can not be anything you cannot do.
How do we stop someone with that much power, the power of Solipsism? To be able to take something a take it out of existence period… it wigs me out a little.
What do you think?

I'm going to recommend a movie to you. It's called The Science of Sleep (La Science des rêves). If you don't mind English subtitles (which I don't at all, and half the movie is in French), it's incredibly good. It's about a young, solipsistic artist who lives most of his day-to-day life not knowing if he's in a dream or reality. It makes for some awkward situations and a creative movie. :-)

I actually feel like I am in a dream sometimes. I sometimes make up things in my head and hope for the best, but not the everything is false. This is a very interesting concept. Hmm.
