Clinton recently unveiled a new ad where Obama appears to be darker than he actually is.

While nobody seems to know if it was deliberate, there is a high chance it could have been. To those that say it doesn't matter what skin color Obama is, you're wrong.
The ad becomes that much more effective if Obama is darker because of colorism. It has been proven that black African-Americans are looked down upon more than lighter-skinned African-Americans. They make less money than lighter-skinned African-Americans. There are fewer in executive positions or other positions of power. Lighter-skinned African-Americans are treated better by not only whites, but by African-Americans too.
By making Obama appear to be darker in ads, Obama looks more threatening to non-blacks, and more importantly less competent to all voters, including African-Americans. If he looks less competent, fewer people will vote for him, and more will vote for Hillary. Even if it makes people who are on the fence stay home, it is a victory for HIllary because its another person who may not be voting for Obama. This colorism could be a big psychological factor, in deciding voter's candidate's preferences. No voters won't realize taht they are taking in a candidate's darker skin color into account, but they are.
In any case this ad will probably be the only one where Obama appears to be darker so the effect won't last too long. The backlash will force Hillary's campaign to be extra careful with her next ads. In all honesty this was probably a mistake, possibly a bad recording of the clip or from somebody darkening the whole ad if the campaign thought that Hillary's section needed to be darker.

David Sirota wrote an interesting piece asking the question-- Why, with his experience as a community activist in the low-income neighborhoods of Chicago, does Obama fail to bring up the class-issue? His thesis was simple...
The only mentioning of classism in our society was done in South Carolina. Sirota said that the result in that election was Clinton's evocation of the race card. Meaning, Hillary and Bill Clinton combated the class card with racist undertones
