I have lived in Indiana all my life, so I have seen my fair share of corn. However, I never would have dreamed that my state's main cash crop is being used to solve the U.S. Oil dependency problem. E85 Ethenol is a blend of 85% ethenol, 15% gasoline. It is a new renewable form of fuel that is made from U.S. grown corn. E85 is an exciting new energy resource that reduces greenhouse gas and smog-forming emissions. Better yet, it will reduce our dependency on petroleum and support the United States agricultural industry. E85 is also better for your car, too! It has a higher octane rating than gasoline, which allows more horsepower an torque.
General motors has been the main supporter of E85 Ethenol. It has already made 1.5 million flexi-fuel vehicles, which can use the E85 or gasoline as a fuel source. There are pumps located in all fifty states. I found one just south of my hometown. Got to livegreengoyellow.com to find out if your vehicle supports E85 Ethenol, and find if there is a supplier near you. You could save yourself a lot of money, for E85 is nearly 60 cents cheaper then regular gasoline.
