Pressing Onward

I found another site to willingly post my thoughts and feelings on. Yay! :) I suppose that there are several things I would mainly like to talk about on here, but, there will be days when I come across something that will strike me as incredibly important and it was light a flame within my mind and I'll create a whole...let's say, rant, about it. I'm very outspoken about lots of different things. Polotics, Celebrity Fumbles, Sports, My school... just about everything.
I guess I'll start off with this beloved war America is in.
Does anyone have any support for it anymore? Am I the only one left? I'm not going to say that I support the way things have been pushed under the rug about it, but, I have family over there, my step dad is from there, and I've heard so many detailed accounts on what life is like over there. How it was before American troops landed over there, and how it was after. My Step- Father thinks that what America is doing over there is very noble. I mean, we went over there to "fight terrorism" Okay, so Saddam is gone and Osama is probably dead and now no one thinks there is any real terrorist threat anymore. But isn't there? I believe there is. There are rebel groups over there killing and maiming their own people. Shouldn't we try to protect them or save them? Isn't that essentially what happened during the Vietnam War and during the Cold War with the people of Berlin? Why was it okay and acceptable then, and not now?
What do you all think?
Feedback? Maybe?

I agree that the people that are fighting in the war are doing a noble thing, but as far as the war goes... I believe that now it is getting to a ridiculous point. There is always going to be terrorists and people trying to screw up our world. There's no way that we could kill and get rid of all of them. I believe that it isn't America's duty to step in and kill the "bad guys" because look what it is doing to our economy. America should first take care of our country and our problems that we have over here (financial, economy, etc.) and THEN we could help other people if it's necessary. It's like how it is in the real world... if someone else is having a problem, is in your place to step in and try to intervene? Most of the time it just gets you involved, causing more problems than there was before. We stepped in in Vietnam and look at the trauma and destruction that it caused. Just because America had to step in and try to fix it.
Don't get me wrong, I support our troops completely. Like you, I have two cousins who have supported me through all my hardships fighting for Iraq. But due to this and the destruction the war has caused, I believe that America should finally pull our troops out of Iraq. We did our part and everything that we planned -- AND MORE. It's our time to leave and put our troops to rest safely.

however, I still fear that the absence of american troops would allow mayhem to ensue.... hm. You do make a good point.

I agree... There may be some havoc when we first pull our troops out but there are other solutions to it. We can still be involved in their government and helping them without our troops being in harms way. We've got to do it some day and it's going to be a long process... We might as well start now before it's too late.

its one of those wars that at first we supported but now we want our troops home and we want them home now. The longer we're in this war the more our military gets stressed out and the more the Iraqis are going to hate us. Al-Qaeda is probably rolling in money because of how much we spend on the war per month( 12 billion). Thats 12 billion a month that could be used to make veteran hospitals like Walter Reed a better hospital
