Fascism is best know for being the government type choosen by the Nazis. But most people don't know what Fascism is at its core. Fascism is making laws controling what people can and can't say, do, even think. Based on this most of you are already thinking of the Patriot Act, but that is not true. The Patriot Act does not specify what you can and cannot say, all it does is make it easier to get legal wire taps. So it's not specifically Fascist but its more of an enabler, allowing fascist laws to be enforced. In this write up I am going to ingore the laws are are ment to keep us safe i.e. you can't speed, kill people, drink and drive, etc.
The first example and one that affects poeple the most is the FCC. This organization was started just to make sure public decency was upheld, it still does this but lately it has been encroaching on good shows and movies. I hate to pull this into this, but this is mostlikely due to bad parenting. When you use the TV as a babysitter you naturally react to poor conduct in the same way you would with a normal babysitter, you to its parents. In this case the only this that seems to be a parent to TV is the FCC. Then the FCC has to do something (unless the show has a disclaimer), this usually means fines for the network, then they decied to change the show or pull it completely. That is bad by the way.
Another example is Sexual Harassment laws, created by the liberals. Yes I just called the liberals Fascist, and not communist. For those of you who aren't to up on your world history the Fascists and the Communists hate eachother. So it would seem that the liberals have a self hate problem if you ask me. Anyways, these laws are very strict and are bogging down our Judicial System with unessesary laws suits. Most of these started as harmless jokes usually overheard by someone who is too sensitive or were just completely misunderstood. But anyways the laws are fascist and I'm just pointing this out for anyone who cares.

Sexual Harrassment does actually exist. A "harmless joke" as you like to call it is only harmless to the person telling it. Despite your wishes for psychology and emotions to come into play, they do, and they actually do hinder a person from doing as well as s/he is capable, particularly if it is a repeated joke. The history of violence against women, the social status of women in our country past and present, it all plays a role in the way women are viewed (by men and women, and how each woman views her self). If the only images I ever see of women in media are exploiting her sexuality, showing her only as good as her cup size is or by how small her waist is or whatever, and then I get to work, where I would actually like to make a living and do my job well just like everyone else, and I hear jokes made about the way that I look or about women in general and about their role, then yes, it becomes offensive. I can take a joke, I can even ignore that, but that doesn't make it okay. Inevitably, give a person an inch and they go a mile. If it's okay to make jokes about women being dumb or how they belong in a kitchen barefoot and pregnant or that she is only valuable because of how she looks, then it's okay to believe those things, and then it becomes okay to act on those things. Sexual Harrassment laws are in place because of unequal treatment. No one has the right to treat another human being the way that so many women have been and are being treated. And that's just women. We don't even need to get into the laws about equal rights for non-Caucasian Americans. While fascism may exist in some ways about our laws and our country, this particular law, and others like, are not examples of it.

I can't say I agree with the "Sexual harrasment law" part of this post. I think what you say and do is fine as long as it doesn't harm someone else. Psychologically, there is no benefit to the activities that are classified under sexual harassment. They are manipulative and cruel. Perhaps what you're saying is it's fascist to take these laws too far, but the actual action of sexual harassment would be fascist (putting someone out of power through exploiting their sexuality)
I think he's referring to the situations where basically if a guy looks at a girl wrong, he's guilty of sexual harassment, ie - the extremely stupid cases and the fact that the law technically allows people to have lawsuits over such petty things.

What he stated is what I ment, The sexual harassment laws I was talking about were the more recent ones that just go too far. The laws that kariskoett was talking about have already been on the books for a long time and are even double covered in standard harassment laws.
Now Remember, this country is a Democracy that means that it only works if you participate. So Vote.
