So here is the deal... John McCain is most likely going to be the republican presidential
nominee. Like it or hate it, its pretty much a fact. Now, I realize that he is not everyone's
first choice due to his somewhat wavering stances on different topics. I take that back...
he does not necessarily waver, but certain ideals tend to lean toward democratic stances.
John McCain has been known to "reach across the aisle" (if I may use his
own words) to get things accomplished in the senate. Many people are quite upset
about this fact and think that, if elected, John McCain may not end up being as
conservative as they had hoped. This blog is for those people who are concerned. I have
two things to say to you:
1) With all due respect, please move on. John McCain was not my first choice either, but as I mentioned before, it’s almost certain that he will be the man representing the republican convention for the 2008 presidential election. If you are a republican and you want to see a republican in office, then you better start supporting him. He will not be able to win if all of the republicans who wanted someone else in office just decided to sit back and watch. So please, get past the pride you had in your nominee and support John McCain.
(Side note... I know McCain is not the official nominee yet, so until then, if you want to continue to fight for your original nominee, by all means, please do. That would seem to be the right thing to do. I myself have not totally given up on my original guy...but i'm almost there.)
2) Personally, I like the idea of "reaching across the aisle". If that never happened, a lot of things would never get done. It really is not that bad if you stop to think about it. Of course, if the aisle reaching was done on a topic such as legalizing murder (I know...unrealistic but try to get the picture) then I would expect people to be concerned and totally oppose him no matter what party he, or you, belonged to. But when it comes to things that are not very cut and dry between parties, then I would expect some aisle reaching. Not everyone in the Democratic Party has the same ideals about every topic, nor does every republican. John McCain's ideas are not all "republicratic" (yeah, I just made up a word I think). He is a pretty conservative thinking guy. I believe that would not change if you were elected president. So, let "reaching across the aisle" be okay as long as it does not affect a black and white issue.
Ladies and gentlemen, if you are a republican and you would like a republican in office, then get on the McCain train. If you are unsure exactly who you want to vote for yet, then I encourage you to do some in depth research. Find out what president most resembles your views. Voting is a great privilege and a great opportunity... Take advantage of it.
PS: In response to some comments that have been recieved I would like to make another statement here. Please do not totally make a blind decision on who you want to vote for. In my saying that people should "jump on the McCain train" I was not clear in the fact that people should do that after making sure they want a republican in the White House and have looked at his political ideas. That goes along with what I said in my last paragraph...do your research people.

NO! That is the most idiotic way to vote. Only a complete moron would vote just because of the R or D next to someone's name. If you're going to vote, make it count by voting for the person who you think is most prepared for the job! Don't vote for McCain because he's a "Republican," Fuck political parties. Vote for McCain because you think he'll be the best for the job.

So here is the thing...
To an extent, I agree with you. That is not necessarily the best way to vote. However, for instance, if I am a conservative republican and my "first choice" was not on the ballot, then I would probably choose the R listed rather than the D. This is the case because, in general, most Rs think the same way. On the other hand, I do think it is wise to look into each candidate and see who best fits you and your views, and who you think would do the best in office. Hence why I put in my blog that I think people should do solid research into who they would like to vote for.
If the person you're voting for doesn't make it. Why vote for someone you hate?
Personally I think McCain sucks, and if he is the republican nominee then I won't vote because he's just as liberal as Hilary and Obama.

As liberal in regards to what issues? That was kind of what I was saying in the blog. He has some stances which are not necessarily seen as Republican all of the time, but on core issues that republicans are known for (ie: abortion, lower taxes, sanctity of marriage) he is as republican as the other nominees. His stances that may seem liberal are ones that are debated within the conservative community as well as between political parties. I believe your statement was a slight over-exaggeration. HOWEVER... you are entitled to your opinion and I do respect that. Thank you for your comment, friend.

Meh, I really don't care if homosexuals marry or not. He really isn't. He's not that big on lower taxes, but I guess I shouldn't worry, he's so old he'd probably die in office.
okay well if you believe in blind faith then yeah vote the R or D way but if not who cares?!?!?! As far as th actual blog goes its good to see that someone has been keeping up with the republican party, you know other than myself. vote how u wish but u only get one vote so make sure ur choice is one u can live with for the next 4 years
~wrds r meant 2 b heard, so keep ur ears open!!!!~
I agree with you... I think. lol. I probably should have made this point in my blog but forgot to: I do not think people should vote blindly. Please look into who you will be voting for...see where they really stand. If you are republican and would like to see a republican in office, chances are you will be voting for John McCain come November, but i encourage you to look into McCain and his thoughts before you do so.
That should have been in the blog and was not necessarily directed at you voyce_of_da_yun. Thanks for your comment!
While I have been in support of Senator McCain for a few months now, I can understand why some people may be hesitant to do so. I am conservative but do fall more on the moderate end of some issues. I agree that I don't see working together and "reaching across the aisle" as a negative thing. It is the only way that things can get done and changes can be made. I'm glad to see though that someone else is keeping themselves informed on the candidates and the issues.
And at least he's better than huckabee, hillary, and obama. Even though he's not perfect, he's the best choice left
You're right. Never mind Paul (R), Gravel (D), Giuliani (R), or Edwards (D). They TOTALLY don't count.
Sarcasm aside, is Giuliani still in, or did he drop? I think he might have dropped, and I'm pretty sure Edwards is still in, but if you've you evidence to the contrary, by all means, gimme the links.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Nevertheless, Gravel and Paul are still in.
