I think this may be too new for me to entirely grasp - especially since I'm still learning about Castro in detail. I'd love to think that his brother, Raul will do a 180 and that the US will lift the embargo and bring a new economic prosperity to the country - but with our Administration being who and what it is - who knows how this will turn out? And it's not even dependent on OUR gov't, Cuba certainly has a say in this as well. I vote for whatever's best for the people - I just don't know what that is.
I have a coworker here in Corporate America who's Cuban (together we fill the diversity quota) and he's expressed how the travelling restrictions effect him. He doesn't even know his family over there. He's got a one year old son that he wants to take back and have everyone meet, but it sounds like it would be a bunch of strangers meeting a couple of new strangers who are mystically tied together by blood. I hope he does do it - I bet it would be a great personal journey.
As for the rest - my best wishes to Cuba, to the people, to their gov't and ours (PLEASE stay out of this, America - remember little Elian Gonzolez?). I've got to do more research before having any kind of really super solidified opinion.
