why is body image such a big deal in America today

What’s the big deal in today’s society about body image? Why does every little girl or boy want to look like a superstar and weigh 100 pounds? Body image has a huge impact on today’s society because of all the different communication in the world. Television, Internet, movies, billboards, commercials, and models all have a huge impact on what people see in today’s society. Little girls that are 8 to grown men and women want to have a superstar body and people will do whatever it takes to have that ideal body. Many starve themselves or they become anorexic or throw up their food. There are so many clinics around the world for people that have eating disorders and it’s because of the media and what people believe is best body to have. I think that if the media and Internet didn’t stress body image then the world we live in would be healthier and many lives would be saved from depression and other disorders.

            Body image isn’t just a problem few people face; it’s a problem that a lot of America has to face that even kills many loved ones more then you know. All the dietary supplements people take to loose weight, the movie stars that don’t have any fat on them, the runway models that wear nothing because they can all makes people want to look like them. Those are just some a the few scenarios that people see weather it be online, in the magazines, or television people will do anything to loose weight all the wrong ways. Eating healthy and exercises correctly can only lead your body into the right direction.

            Body image should not have a huge impact on society but if you stay fit by exercising and eating healthy will make you a much healthier person.
