Will, if you haven't heard what is on the news lately, I would like to inform you. Governor Eliot splitzer of New York was caught with his pant down in a prostitution ring, where he supposedly paid 4,000 for a prostitute.
First thing that came to my mind was, that must had been some amazing prostitute because is sure cause a lot of money.
Second, why didn't he just have an affair with some intern in a blue dress?
third, what was the federal government or whoever was in charge spending their time investigating a prostitution ring instead of wired tapping the Saudi terrorist, isn't that why bush was all ranting about if congress don't pass the bill that would grant immunity for political illegal spying?
Four, I started thinking about prostitute and our obsession with sex and violence. Society decide what is important by the amount of money that they invest in it, and right now the Iraq occupation is worth 3 trillion dollars, that means that those oil is extremely important for the oil executives.
Now with the sex part, money are being pour in hundreds of dollars into sex, be it abstinence only, banning dildo, obsession with homosexuality, or prostitution.
I personally believe that prostitution should be legalized.
Are there women who are victims of prostitution, yes but I don't think that it should be illegal.
There is nothing wrong with a man paying a woman for sex.
It is nothing different than a man asking a woman to go on a date than goes back to his apartment afterward to have sex because he already paid for sex through dinner.
Who care what a person does in the privacy of their own bedroom, so long as it was consensual, no one was underage, and everyone was a willing precipitant.
It doesn't really hurt anyone other than the people involve in it nor do I believe that a person sexual lives and what they do in their bedroom will affect on their ability to do their job.
Making prostitution illegal just create the kind of problems that prohibition did. When alcohol was ban in the USA, massive crime went up because people was going underground and making millions of dollars of it.
I think that women wouldn't be a victim of prostitution if they just legalize it, that way we can regulate the problem when a women get explorative by her pimp.

Prostitution is legal in some parts of Nevada.
...and anything is legal in Amsterdam!
I probably wouldn't go as far as to say that women are victims of prostitution. They chose that lifestyle, they haven't been forced into it. If you're going ot fell bad for any of them, feel bad for those who start out as teenagers.

I bought my flute in Amsterdam. Nothing that would be considered illegal elsewhere, though. :-)

It should be legal for two adults to do in private whatever they wish concerning sex.
