hello everybody, my name is Lauren9 and i wanna start my first blog on the topping of GAY rights.
on February 25,2004 President Bush banned all same-sex marriages. Bush's comment on his action was "The union of a man and a woman is the most enduring human institution, honoured and encouraged in all cultures and by every religous faith."
Okay, yea a lot of religons say same sex marriages are not of God, but as a christian myself, i read the bible and it hardly says anything about adam and steve being or not being together. So what's the big problem.
Today in Hollywood, can you count how many stars are homosexuals, or even how many movies deal with gays and lesbians. it has become the topic of the country. Today, there are maybe around 86 famous homosexuals who are out, and no one says anything to them.
In the 1st amendment, it basically says we have the right of FREE EXERCISE, so woundln't that mean we have the right to say "hey, i'ma girl and i like women so i'm going to marry her!" I just don't get it.
I need to know what the world thinks of this! Why is the government so into our love live's when it clearly states in the 1st amendment we have the right to free excersice?

I don't know. I think the government needs to keep to itself and not interfere in personal lives. I don't understand why everyone is so caught up on the topic. I mean, if you don't believe in same sex marriage don't marry someone who's your same sex, but don't prevent other people from doing what they like. It's not harming anything.
Marriage is meant to be between a man and a woman.
Also, since when is it a good idea to base the government off of celebrity actions? Who cares if celebrities are homosexuals; does that make it right? Maybe the government should also allow drunk driving, seen as so many celebrities seem to think it is perfectly fine to drive while under the influence.
I agree that the government shouldnt base guidelines on celebrities but when did we begin to base our Constitution on religion....You know its ironic how we can make gay marriage unconstitutional based on the Bible.....But we are fighting also to take "One Nation Under God" out of the pledge of aligence because it is Christianty.....Let's pick a side and stick with it....Oh yeah if we are going to follow God's Laws dont forget Love Thy Neighbor....If we did that our world would be a better place
Truly Beautiful Truth
It never ceases to amaze me that people put homosexuality on the same level as murder and drunk driving. Tell those same individuals something along the lines of "Maybe we should ban religion too for spreading intolerance and allowing more death throughout history than any disease" and they get offended. And yet... it's perfectly acceptable to those selfsame individuals to compare homosexuality and drunk driving or homosexuality and murder and to call for a ban of gay marriage.
That's genius.

That isn't much of a comparison. As I stated in my previous post, gay marriage isn't hurting anyone; the ban on it is. Drunk driving kills countless numbers of people every year.
I don't know why people care so much about the choices other people make in their lives as long as it isn't harming others.
Umm...February 25,2004 had no such event. If you've got proof that Bush banned all same-sex marriage, you might want to notify San Fransisco and Massachusetts.
