GSA-Gay Straight Alliance

Tagged:  •

Students everywhere have tried at one time or another to start up a school club to united both gay and straight persons but their requests are being shut down. Why? Well I asked one teacher and he said that the administrators knew that there were "questioning" people, but to place them in a club and have them tell them all sorts of stories about being gay wouldn't be right. This controversile subject reached our school and again the instigators were turned away. How do you feel?

I feel these people have a right to have this club. Just as much of a right as Christians have to host their club or surfers to have their club. It is actually against the law to deny a gay straight alliance club the right to form and meet on school grounds if there are other non-academic clubs that have been granted that right. The people at your school who are trying to start this club should look into the cases where school and school districts have been sued over the issue and the club always wins. (I've written a 15ish page research paper on the issue)

As far as the whole "questioning" thing goes that would be like me saying I might have feelings of wanting to become Jewish so there shouldn't be a Jewish club because it would really tempt me. Or wanting to become black so there shouldn't be a black club since I believe in the theory of homosexuality being a biological thing.
