So this is my first entry in a blog on this fabulous new blogging website that's just about progressivism and not about who likes who at school or which class is hardest. No, here I can talk about important stuff--stuff important to me--like global warming and the oil crisis and what kind of president we're going to have at the end of this year and the economy and racism and sexism. All that heavy stuff that everyone talks about but which has only been scratched on the surface because there's a lot more talking left to do.
And now that I have room to talk about the important stuff, I realized something: blogging is tough. I thought I knew how to blog because all it really involves is typing into a box that says "body" and throwing on a title and clicking a button. But it isn't that easy, is it? You have to make your content readable (something this entry probably isn't because I don't really have a topic yet), you have to make it understandable, you have to make it catchy and sensible and informational. And a thousand other things that add up to a whole--the whole of a good blog.
Let's see how long it takes me to acheive a good blog.

Hang in there :) You'll get it eventually. I'm not sure how much of a help it will be to you, but reading through some of the other posts is generally a good place to start. And, of course, picking a topic that you are interested in always helps. If you've ever wanted to learn more about something, researching it for a blog can be fun.
And if you need help, feel free to PM myself or another moderator. We're always happy to help out when we're needed!

It's true that this is a neat way to blog. I'm a frequent user at livejournal, under the name of jessieflower, but I couldn't even bring myself to use the name that I have been so close to for the past four years. Instead I saw this as something different (much like my graphics journal - jessiesgarden - on livejournal) that needed a different ending as well.
So this is who I am here, jessiesfountain of observations and critical thinking.
I hope to see your great blogs soon!
Sincerely,
Jessie
