Time: Being Gay is Worse than War & Abortion

In the latest issue of TIME Magazine there was a poll taken of "evangelicals" to see how they will vote in the upcoming November election.

The one thing that REALLY jumped out at me were the following poll results:

The question: Would you consider voting for a candidate with different positions from your own on...

U.S. Policy toward Iraq: 20% No

Abortion: 30% No

Gay Marriage: 38% No

What does this tell us? Well, it looks like more religious folks would rather continue a bad war policy contrary to their own views or give ground on their abortion stance than see homosexuals receive equal rights.

WHAT!?!?!? Are you kidding me!

War: Our young men and women are being killed along with innocent Iraqi civilians.
Abortion: Murder of innocent babies (their opinion, not mine).
Gay Marriage: 3 references in the bible mention it being bad... along with working on sundays and eating shelfish.

Is the church really pushing gay marriage more than issues surrounding the war and abortion? Is death or "death" (depending on how you feel about abortion) really not as important as 2 people getting married who happen to have the same sex organ inbetween their legs?

Marriage does not require a chruch.
Marriage does not require a priest.
You can walk into City Hall and sign some papers.

But, apparently this has more to do with religion (in their heads) and is more important to evangelicals than war and abortion. Are we stuck in the Twilight Zone where things that should matter and bother people don't? Does anyone else get the sudden urge to slap the nearest person who thinks this way?

I know I do.

I think what it is, is that abortion and Iraq are well the status quo. Abortion is legal, the war in Iraq is happening we already know what life is like with these things. But, if gay marriage is made legal, well we don't know what that would be like. But um, I'm not so sure if you are correct in atributing this viewpoint to conservatives only. I didn't read the actual poll but from the way I read it someone could be strongely in favor of all these issues while someone else could be strongly against and either would answer no to all three questions. I'm not sure that people think gay marriage is worse, I think it's that they feel this issue has the most chances of changing.

The poll was of EVANGELICALS. A.K.A. incredibly religious people. The map that they showed with the poll displayed the saturation of evangelicals across the country...

No surprise... the south (mostly Texas, Louisiana, Alabama, and the like) were CLEARLY where the vast majority of evangelicals were.

These are states that are conservative and vote republican hands down.

Shouldn't the fact that war (many many many deaths) is already occurring make the issue even more grave and pertinent?

Abortion (many many many many many "deaths" in the evangelical opinion) is also taking place today...

SO shouldn't those issues be the ones being stopped in the evangelical mindset? You'd logically think so, but the church is pushing this gay marriage thing so hard and the sheeple are doing as they are indoctrinated to do.

When you honestly ask yourself what is the most harmful in the religious mind: War, Abortion or Same-sex marriage?

Do you honestly think two people in love with each other and seeking to marry are the most dangerous? If you do, then you are brainwashed by bullshit.

Are we stuck in the Twilight Zone...

Yes we are!

Things are going to get even worse before any positive change is going to see the light.

Worship religions all over the world are losing their grip upon the minds they so desperately try to control and manipulate for their own profit!

One important reason for this losing grip occurrence too take place is “INTERNET”!

Most of today’s youngsters are not to be fooled anymore and they are partly responsible for the religious egg’s to break in pieces.

Sadly enough, we will probably all witness (suffer) acts of desperation coming from religious fanatics who will try heir very best trying to keep everyone boxed up in mental slavery!

Whatever they come up with, the “GAME IS OVER”!

Global consciousness is going to kick in like a sledgehammer upon all those who try to keep us all in bondage.

For gay individuals it’s only a matter of public reason and common sense to surface, so they can finally enjoy a peace of mind in freedom of expression and being.

For now, we all need to wait for this storm to pass, while handling fanatics in a proper manner.

Enough is enough!

When people are blinded by fear. That is just what they see. Narrow minded people...are very frustrating. I don't understand what is so threatening about recognizing love.
