Your Crazy Screwed Up Family

We live in a time where every person has some story of crazed family members and dysfunctional life styles. These stories while completely hilarious make us who we are. They are what set us apart as individual people. I’m sure not everyone will agree with me but I must say that it is (sort of) good thing to have a crazy family.

I want to say though that dysfunction has made some horrible things happen (suicide, rape, abuse, and etc.) for this I am so sorry. But, for those of you who have come out alive and well minded (ahhh you can be a little wacko) I want to ask- do you regret it? I hate my dad and I have a hard time talking to my mom anymore (all she wants to talk about is my dad), but at the same time I wouldn’t change who they are or what they do. I just can’t do it. They made me, physically and mentally the person I am. I am never going to thank them for it but I can appreciate it. I must say that my sense of humor and my opinions have come because of every experience I have come across through out my life.

I would not be the caring person I am, or the avid book, movie, music connoisseur which I am today had it not been fort the family I have contact with. When I was alone because I could not ever go outside (paranoid dad) I read books, and more books, and more books this love culminated and grew into my hobby. I still debate with my hugely republican mother (she did not accidentally vote for Bush if yah know what I mean) and now I debate all the time just for the fun of debating (by the way if you read my other blog http://www.progressiveu.org/140007-nothing-lovely-room-death you will see what I mean because I am not a huge avid anti-hunter guy I just like to debate (it happens)). But I give props (for lack of a better word at the moment) to my family for securing (accidentally) those qualities in me.

I have this friend whose family life just sucks (sorry if I made that sound horrible, if your even reading this hommie) (OH and for the readers this is true. I did get his permission to write this) His mother is a alcoholic, his dad is so stressed out about his mom that he takes it out on the kids (not beating just yelling and yelling and grounding) and his brother is kind of a jackass (I know I have met him). So my friend puts up with all of this and yet he still is one of the coolest kids I know, he will say anything to anybody (maybe not a quality you admire but I do) and he is really funny. But this kid doesn’t let anything bother him at all (a quality I really REALLY wish I had completely, I’m not completely there yet)

So if you turned out fine and kind of like yourself just know that those insane people behind you (yes they are there right now, you should run) attributed it.

Also I would like to hear some cool stories about anybody’s crazy family that they know affected them a lot so come on and shout out

I think everyone's families are somewhat crazy in a way. =] Because I'm asian, my parents physically hit me... But that's really normal for asian people, but it gets really annoying. My parents are divorced and my dad doesn't really want us. My mom is paranoid beyond belief and she doesn't let me stay after school or go out on weekends because she believes that my "friends" are worthless. It actually makes me really ... pissed. And, she's also constantly telling me that I'm not good enough, but I'm already a straight A student and I do loads of extracurriculars... I don't get it. =[

Okay so ... It is not only Asians who like to hit (though i don't get no beat down, just a good smack for a smart ass comment) but what im saying is that they are a part of you, your family no matter how fucked up is going to either teach you how not to be or even how to be and thus showing some good (it is okay to kind of hate them for it but understand that without them you won't be the same (and we should love at least ourselves -.-)
