Music is life

Music is Life. I have heard this phrase countless times throughout the music hallway at my high school and now in the music building at my college, I have seen it written on posters and wrist bands, but is music really life?
My friends would certainly think so. My band geek, choir nerd, musical acting friends would. Their whole lives revolve around some activity that involves music. Day in and day out they sing, play, dance, and act their way into a big fine arts cliche of life. So certainly for them, music is an intregal part of life, but is it life itself?
I would like to think so. I bought an ipod with my graduation money with the words "because life should come with music..." inscribed on the back. So, as I sit here listening to Hellogoodbye, singing along to all the songs, caught up in the beat and the meaning, I wonder if I could even go one day without music. So I'm going to try. Starting at 12:01 am Febuary 19th and ending 24 hours later, I will not listen to music at all. No music, for an entire day. Not doing my homework, or driving, or at work, or anywhere. No songs, no cautchy beat, no offensive lyics. Not a peep. I'll report back on Wednesday the 20th and let you know if music really is life. Wish me luck.

P.S. happy birthday mom!

"without music life would be a mistake."

so music isn't necessarily life, but it definitely enhances it. for me, music mirrors my moods. there's a song for every moment. good luck on your mission, i'm not sure i could do that...

...but what is the point if it brings happiness.

...so I'll change this one. Is there a way to delete comments?

I listen to music almost all the time. I love going to concerts, listening to music in the car, researching the bands who play the music I love, music is an integral subplot in my life. I think that music is such a big deal because, it's so sensory, it is a painting you can feel with words that can often convey exactly where you are in life. It's a story book written with sound. Even music without words can move people.

P.S. I tried to give up music for a week, and instinctual turned on the radio in the car the first day.

life is all the little things added together. music is a little piece of my day that makes it bearable but its not the only thing.

I believe like one of the previous comments that music is a part of life, there are songs for different moods and activities. That is exactly why i can't listen to radio, because my mood dictates my mood or i try to dictate my mood with my music. But life is not completed by music only enhanced.
