Universal Health Care!! (is it really so bad?)

I was watching the Movie Sicko by Michael moore and i decided i would pose the question What is really wrong about Universal Health Care.

now im not a socialist or a communist but i do believe that everyone has basic rights that should be assured to them. Some of these basic rights is Food, shelter, health, and freedom. Now anything on top of that is up to you. In Sweden they have a system where everyone gets care when sick or injured but it is basic care where you get two people to a room and a plain gown and such. if you wanted to be treated better than you can pay more or invest in insurance.

Now when you get rid of insurance companys in the US than you are getting one of the biggest financial problems off peoples backs. You may have to increase taxes but that is a small price to pay than putting people in debt for getting sick.

How do we live in a country that lets people lose their home and financial stability because of injury. Our Health Care should be a shining example of who we are as a people and now all other countries see is a nation filled with people who only pay for themselves and don't band together for their community. We may have fund raisers and things of that nature but we would eliminate the need of people begging for money for a test if we created Universal Health Care.

I found a couple of quotes on the movie (Sicko) that i thought wre interesting

"If you can find money to kill people, than you should be able to find money to help people."
"If you have Power you use to help you and your community."
"People in debt becaome hopeless people and hopeless people don't vote"
"There are only two ways to control people the 1st is through to put fear into people, the 2nd is to Demmorralis them"
-Tony Penn (a Former member of Parliment)

Now i want to start on becoming a Doctor when i get out of High School and I want to do it to actually help people (it would help me personally to help people) and id on't want to be a doctor who asks "Do you have the money" before "How do you feel."
so i think i might join the "Doctors with out borders program"

So i would love to hear your opinion on Universal Health Care.

I think univesal healthcare is another way to stomp on the american dream and to quell our need to earn things our self.

I think my biggest point is in some thing you said. "if you wanted to be treated better than you can pay more or invest in insurance. " This hits it on the nose. The problem is not giving healthcare to people. The problem is stuid greedy doctors and isurance companies telling who can get what . Not just health insirance but liability doctor insurance. The greed is bad too and docs should not be punished for filling their oath to everybody includiong the poor.

Good blog and points though,

But see you can pay for better treatment as in a single room or things that ate just wanted not neccesity. Wiht Universal Health Care you can get the basic need filled. People can not have to worry about those bad insurance claims and the debt after being injured.
The American Dream still stands "you want better than you are going to have to do better"
I just want people in general to at least have the basic need filled

Insurance is high because cost is high. Cost is high, because people can't get it anywhere else, and health care is a definite NEED. The entire system is broken from the ground up to the ivory tower.
