why are you still racist?????

ok well this is my first blog and i just want to write what im feeling right now. im in class and i was thinking about my school and the people in it. and i come to realize there is a lot of racism in this school. not by the kids but by the teachers and administrators. my school is a mixed school you cant really tell which race dominates. the school is mostly made up by whites, blacks, and hispanics. and the administration is also mixed. but what i realized it that they get there opposite race in trouble.... a lot. for example today walking in the hall i got stopped because i had a bandana in my hair. ok i guess they would think of it being gang related. but come on it was pink am i part of the pretty in pink genere. well i just listened and took it off. walking to lunch i had seen another girl wearing the bandana the same way i was but a different color walked right in front of the same teacher and absolutely nothing happened to her. so what does that tell you. ok if thats just maybe a coincident here another one. two girls in my class were both seniors. one of them is working really hard to get into a good college the other really doesnt care. well turns out that the onwe that didnt care was actually passing the class and the other girl working really hard was almost failing. so i descided to work with the slacking girl and im sorry but she was clueless in all her work. turns out she had been cheating on all her test and was ateachers pet so the techer would cut her slack and let her turn in work weeks later. well i told my friend to take this to the guidance councelor and sure enough the girl should have been failing.and my other friend got the chance to make up all the work she wanted and get full credit. so tell me what you think. do you feel as if your school or community is still showing signs of racism??? what are you willing to do to make a change??? will you step up for yourself or another if you know it is right???

I have to agree with you, those sound like very angry teachers. But lets say the bandana was a coincidence. Let's hope. Because I am sure you are not in that gang from Grease... didnt they all wear pink? Anyway, off subject... ya know when I was in school I got a very bad taste of some of that too. I am white... I had a very dear friend who was Puerto Rican. We both applied to the University of Florida. He had mostly C grades, I had a 3.7 unweighted GPA and a list of extra corics. we both got in, he got a full paid scholarship for being Puerto Rican (not because they were low income mind you his dad made more than mine) but his scholarship was for 4 years... full paid.... mine was 2k a year for Journalism. This was my first experience with feeling discriminated on. I went to a mostly white school. The other races that were at our school fit right in, we all hung out together. There were never problems at all. When I left to go in the military, I left through Montgomery AL, I was the only white girl there, I was with about 50 black girls, and no one would talk to me at all. I felt horrible, I needed a friend, and I had never experienced real discrimination... so I cannot imagine dealing with it everyday at school like you are. Keep standing your ground, and remember that friendship is colorless. I don't understand the problems between colors, there are horrible white, black, yellow people all over the world, but there are great ones too, why limit yourself to only knowing "your own" be proud of who you are always!!!

If you believe the teachers are being racist it may be a good time to point this out to the administration. Racism is a big problem, and is certainly not needed in schools.
