Being a young teenage mother, they have a lot of responsibilities. They won’t be able to live their life like they planned to. For example, they won’t be able to go out to the mall with their friends, shopping, movies, parties, etc. In addition to that they might have to drop out of high school, and that would result in them not receiving the proper education. In fact, “Teen mothers are less likely to complete high school (only one-third receive a high school diploma), and only 1.5% have a college degree by age thirty”. Finding a job will be difficult for a teenage mother because the lack of education. Without enough money, they won’t be able to provide the proper necessities for their baby. Some of them have to depend on the government to provide these necessities. In the article it states that, “Less than 1/3 of teens that become pregnant before age eighteen complete high school. This leaves them unprepared for the job market and more likely to raise their children in poverty”. I think that this is very sad that when teenage girls become pregnant some of them drop out of school, and don’t finish their education. They drop out of school because sometimes the schools that they have don’t have special classes for young teenage pregnant girls. I think that it will be good if the girls would not quite school, but go to a school specially made for pregnant mothers, so that they will be able to have proper education and take care of their baby when they are born. I’m not saying that this will push girls to have sex to get pregnant, but they will have something to rely on if something like that happens. Young mothers wouldn’t feel alone or depressed, they will see that there are other girls who are in the same situation as them.

Teen mothers deserve as much help as 30 something mothers deserve: none. If their baby-daddy, to use the vernacular, can neither support nor assist, then they're SOL. They shouldn't have been having sex without considering the possibilities.

Maybe the teen mothers are less likely to complete high school not only because they now have a child, but also because that is just the type of person they are? If a girl is so careless as to have sex as a teenager, how devoted could she have really been to her schoolwork in the first place?
As for providing additional resources for these teens? I don't think that is necessary at all. Sure, teen mothers often have troubles, but who got them into that situation? Everyone's actions should have consequences, and I don't see why teen mothers should be exempt from those consequences.
While it is sad that innocent children are brought into these poor situations, I don't think the taxpayers should have to take responsibility for the irresponsible teens.
Woot! I might like you...

Why can a young mother go to the mall, movies, or shopping? Since when were children banned from these locations? Also, I think the previous posts were right about not wanting to finish school- there is nothing about a pregnancy that keeps someone from completing schoolwork, even if the mother is on bedrest. Bedrest does not prohibit writing, internet use, or thinking. Why does a pregnant person need special classes? Pregnant women are not mentally disabled, they're just pregnant. Period. This does not cause the need for a special learning environment.
FYI- I've been that young pregnant girl before with no parental support and no help. I worked, went to school, even went to the mall, movies, and the occasional party, and am now working on a PhD. Why? Because I wanted it bad enough to not feel sorry for myself and to work hard enough to get it. Anyone who uses pregnancy as a reason for not obtaining an education was just looking for an excuse in the first place.
