I dare not attempt to define love. Of course I know there are different kinds of love. However I think all loves share certain characteristics.

Love is not only the acceptance of one's imperfections but seeing such flaws as beautiful.
Love is eagerness to not only compromise but to sacrifice.
Love is the constant giving of encouragement.
Love is willingness to reorganize priorities to let nothing in the way of a relationship.
Love is the ability to ignore the hassle of distance to see someone.
Love is letting one be completely comfortable as oneself.
Love is a constant challenge in a most amusing and sometimes hilarious form of interest.
Love is an undefined, glorious, intriguing beauty like no other. It makes every last one of us tick and holds us all together.

What is love?
"Love can't always be perfect. Love is just... love." (The Wedding Planner)

Is love real? YES! It is absolutely undeniable. What a rediculous question!

Does everyone find love? Yes. As I said before, there are many different kinds of love. Everyone experiences some kind of real love at some point during life. I'm absolutely sure.

Lovely. Love is so lovely.

Love always,
Lauren Elisabeth

1 Corinthians 14:4-8

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails.

I read a book awhile back about the battle of Thermopylae, the Spartan 300 story (there's a movie coming out about it). One of the squad leaders, Dienekes, is part warrior part philosopher. He asked the same question you do. He came up with that the opposite of love is fear.

Ever hear the saying "Perfect love removes all fear"?

Love to me is something that doesn't change. People say love at first sight, i say nay. The love doesnt change, just your perception of it; how aware you are of it.

There are multiple kinds of love: Love for family, love for God, love for friends, love for passions, and love for husband/wife sorta deal.

Each have their own characteristics and feelings.

Love is way to complex to be defined in short. You could write a thousand page book defining it.

That's my persepective on love.

Unconditional. That's how real love truly is. Kudos.

It's impossible between two humans. There is always something you can think of that would make you abandon a person. Be it that they beat you, beat children, molest children, murdered someone, join a crazed religious cult...

There is something. Whether they actually have done something like that or not doesn't matter. If there is something they COULD do that would make you leave them/stop loving them...it's not unconditional love.

I don't know about that. And I think that's mostly because when i think of love, it's not always a romantic love.
I think that a mother can love her child unconditionally.

So if a kid rapes his mother, kills his father and his siblings, and keeps his mom held up in a cellar torturing her...

She's still going to love him?

It's possible, but if my (non-existant...) child did that to me I would definately have a hard time finding it in my heart to continue loving him.

To use an example.

You can be heartbroken and still love.

In a situation like the one I used, or in something like that, I would honestly be questioning if love was still there.

Perhaps not all humans are capable of this kind of love. But I'm sure that atl least some are.

I am not very religious, but I do love that Bible verse. Love is the emotion that makes human life worth while. Love gives us a reason.

I agree. Life would be so hopeless without love.
