From Ellen Degeneres to Lindsay Lohan.

Ellen Degeneres, Nicole Richie, Paris Hilton, Britney Spears, Lindsay Lohan. Where does it end?

This past incident with Ellen Degeneres has proven how celebrities use their power and wealth to work their way through their wants and needs, even if it means stepping on other people to get there. Was the talk show broadcast a complete overreaction or just a cry for attention and "woe is me"?

Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton have both been arrested multiple times for DUIs and served no longer than 3 months in a county jail. If it was any of us, us ordinary people who enjoy the same luxuries and things as much as these pop stars, we would have been sentenced to YEARS in jail/prison. Not months, years. And that in Paris Hilton's case, there wasactually a petition to Arnold Schwarzenegger complaining that she was being "made example of" is a joke. Because if it were a 24 year old who just went to college and partied too hard for a few nights, there would be no sympathy.

Britney Spears lost her chilren. Her children.

At what point does the favoritism from the government end? For as much respect that I have for Ellen Degeneres for being one of the first people to come out as being a lesbian on television, I can't believe this past incident. I love animals to the death, but it's a dog. How does a dog being taken from a family give automatic permission for death threats and hate mail?

It's ridiculous.

You realize that she was very upset about that, and she absolutely did not encourage the death threats. I like Ellen, because she is one of the less disgusting talk show personalities out there... not that I watch TV often, just that she doesn't make headlines often at all.

I feel really bad for that Ms. Degeneres, and the family whose dog was taken away. I'm really sad for them. These people that are saying she is using her celebrity, and then you comparing her to people who have gotten DUI's... that's just ridiculous. She clearly has a big heart for animals, and was just trying to what was right for the dog. It has an excellent home, and was torn from that home by people because of a rule. What a horrible situation for the animal and all the people involved.

I haven't lost respect for Ellen Degeneres and she is still my favorite comedian of them all. I wasn't talking about the fact that the dog was taken, just that she didn't have to make a public deal of it.

It's not like if we have a dog taken from us, we can go on air and cry about it. I'm not saying she's a bad person or that she was bad for broadcasting on air.

I was addressing her actions, not her as an individual. Because by making it that public, she put the adoption agency in jeopardy with the death threats and hate mail.

I can see your point. I didn't see the show, I don't know how it came up. I would like to think that she was lead by her emotions, and did the wrong thing for the right reasons.

I don't know about you, but I was taught to use the resources I have.

She has the media as a resource. She used it.

It's not like she went on TV and said "Don't ever adopt from Mutts and Moms, they suck". She actually didn't mention the company's name at all.

And actually, the company came to her first threatening to give her "bad media attention" if she did anything to harm their reputation or argued them taking the dog away.

She just used her resources, as any person would, to make her voice heard.

I agree with you. I see nothing wrong with her using those resources for the good of that dog. I would if she had put other people down, or made personal attacks, but she didn't.

Exactly.

And I'm so tired of hearing people say "just get the kids a new dog. They'll be happy. They won't know the difference." That's ridiculous. They are eleven and twelve, not infants.

If someone took my dog away, it would devastate me. My dog is my best friend in the world. Getting me a new dog would not suffice. I can promise you that.
