Jesus and Unicorns

Why are most "Christians" conservative Republican, homophobes, who never listen to any arguement against their alleged faith, but dismiss all as being of the devil? and of these things they will have no part. Not even to give a logical arguement against it. Rather they hide in their holes and say that "you just have to have faith" and leave the world to it's own apostasy. Why do they claim to follow Jesus yet never take up their cross? Why is a message that has to do with blood, sweat and tears, turned into stained glass pictures of crosses and doves? I promise you that the cross was not smooth, and Jesus probably wasn't white, and he probably wasn't very pretty. So why has Christianity been portrayed in this way?

The reason is the failure of the Western Church to accept the true message of the gospel. They have taken on a lifestyle of "cheap grace." They take salvation but never live by faith. They look for fire insurance instead of a relationship with their Savior. Instead of dying to themselves for love, they love themselves and simply take the salvation without any faith in the blood and love of Jesus. What Christ calls a man to is death to himself. It should be something challenging, every day, the hearts of a man. What the Western Church has turned it into however is a easy way out of Hell. They only care about the numbers that get into thier churches instead of loving people the way Jesus did. This is wrong. They want to have in their church pious conservatives, who won't think or fight the sysstem if it's wrong. They want pavlovian dogs who will respond to the calls of the Church. Who will stand, sit, sing, raise hands, only when called upon. Instead of living in the freedom of the love of Christ they exist in a society of legalism, which they claim to have been freed from, yet submit themsleves to this new legalism every day.

This is How Jesus has been put with the Unicorns. The Western Church has made Him is a distant mythical creature who we look at and say is pretty and then put him back on the shelf as we go through our lives. This is not however the person of Christ. But this is how the USA has become dissillusioned with him. Those who are true followers take up their cross and love people no matter who they are. I hate it when people say "let's just nuke Iran and get it over with." Or when they try to avoid certain groups of people. This is not the love or hope of Jesus. Jesus talked with those who were deemed unacceptable by society. He was with those who were needy. With the prostitute and the beggar. He didn't limit his social cricle to those in high positions.

So that is my rant against the Western Church, although their are exceptions to this, most churches I see are political realms rather than places of spiritual growth and love. This hower does not deliniate any authority of Christianity, because what most of the Western Church publicises in not actually  Real Christianity.

i hate dem gays and i luv god

HOw can you hate gays and have the love of Christ within you? You may hate homosexuality, because that is sin, but not the homosexual. You can never bring a person to Christ through malice and hatred. Only the love of Christ brings a man to him. Christ loved those who were destitute, and in our society gays are those people. We are called to love them the way Christ would. You cannot say you love God without loving people. THose who love the Father will obey His commandments.

I like the blog! Well said!

beautiful. i hate politics.

Well said, I agree with you. I'm lucky enough to be part of a church that is (as a whole) all about loving people unconditionally. It is nice not to feel like I'm part of a show.

I read some of your comments on the blog "The Evil of Christianity", all very well said--I Couldn't have said it better.
Keep on preaching this!
However, though I agree with you on every point, it's really important not to ostracize those hell-believing, bible-throwing "Christians" just because they are wrong.
I'm sure you'd agree, we're all wrong somewhere.
What I'd like to see from this generation is a little more acting and a little less ranting.
Let's act in love and show these "Christians" how true followers of Jesus should live.

It's important to speak our minds and say that we disagree. But when I disagree with something, too often I leave it at that, and I don't really act on it.
For instance, I know many people who disagree with their pastor's sermons and find church almost unbearable, and yet they stay in order to be accepted by fellow Christians. I think it's time people started acting, not just by leaving the church, but by living in a radically different and loving way IN the church community.

Let's not shun each other. =)
