I am going to come out and say it, Americans are afraid of sex. It's the truth. You go anywhere in Europe and there are naked statues and pieces of art all over the city, there are nude beaches, there is a huge fascination with Playboy, and at night the TV channels turn to porn. Now this is not to say that Europeans are immoral people living life's full of nudity and orgies. They have embraced the fact that sex is apart of human nature, and instead of rejecting it they have embraced it, and profited both finically and culturally from it.
When most people think of prostitution in Europe they think Amsterdam. This is due to the famed Red-Light District, and the fact that marijuana is legal. Two forbidden entities in America, Amsterdam is usually portrayed as a city full of heathens, but Amsterdam is not the only place with legal prostitution. It is legal in Germany, France, Italy, Norway, Poland, Switzerland, England, Spain, and quite a few more. It is also legal in Australia, Hong Kong, Brazil, and even Canada. Now some have more laws than others, some being, receiving money for sex is not a crime, but solicitation is, it must be done in a brothel, and many more laws that do make it hard to do, but legally speaking it is not against the law. Almost all have laws against pimps and pimping. These laws are put into place to protect the "workers," and prevent human trafficking. In many countries prostitutes must register, and be licensed.
Another thing that I don't understand why it is not legal in America is that, it is already legal in America, in certain parts of America at least. In certain counties of Nevada regulated brothels are legal (contrary to popular belief Las Vegas does not have legalized prostitution). In Rhode Island you can receive money for sex but solicitation, and brothels are illegal.
Now I personally think that you shouldn't prostitute your body, and would never go to a prostitute. But it is the idea that two consenting adults can not make an "business" agreement, in which one buys a service from someone else, is absurd. People think that the morals of this country would become destroyed if prostitution were to become legal, but in reality if there were a way to put a tax on it, get ride of the pimps, and put other regulations into place to protect children and illegals, why shouldn't we. We already know that it is happening, we know it will continue to happen, lets do something about it.

In The United States we already have lot's of poor morals, so I think that argument against prostitution is moot. While I don't believe in prostitution, if legalizing it would protect the "workers," I think it is something we should consider. However, I think it sould be a state or city decision, and not a federal one. Prostitutes in the US are exploited and face STDs, abuse, and others, often because this is the only job choice they have. If they were doing this legally, it would be regulated, and they could report customers or pimps.

I agree with you too a certain extent. I do think that many Americans have poor morals, but there are also many who have very honorable morals. I think what it is because there is such a large range that it creates a false image of Americas morals, meaning the only things being shown in the media are the bad ones. I think in other countries their range is not as large and therefore the it appears that everyone has higher morals.
I suppose I am guilty of generalizing. I just don't believe legalizing prostitution would lower the overall morality of America. People go to prostitutes even though it's illegal, and because of our views, we think little of their morals. Perhaps we would be more open-minded towards honest, good people going to prostitutes if it was legal. People wouldn't hide it (unless of course they were cheating with the prostitute behind their significant other's back).

Prostitution is socially entangled in many ways, still the bottom line is that it literally sucks reason out of people.
There is a huge amount of reasons why it is still around, therefore it will never go away,
unless
The need of it isn’t discussed amongst, which is a most fine example of the hypocrisy which linger behind the reality of “it”.
No one “things” to know, that alley at nighttime, still while, what’s being visited overnight is hated in daylight with it’s destroying exposure of judgment upon who get’s burned by that focus.
One can be more shocked of understanding the hypocrisy behind our own two, facing a personal mirror can make to see one’s own guild grow or fade in joy or hate for what captures one’s interest!
To witness pictures of “Stars amongst” which have being taken without consent is prostitution upon a massif scale, while really sick a reality which should be reflecting enough to understand we are all taking a shi(f)t in our own (back)yard.
To support “not embrace” prostitution is the one way to make it fade into long gone memories!
Other than that a matter of opening a visual upon what’s needs to be addressed in proper matter for all to understand the occurrence of prostitutions.
If one care’s to understand some love to be excused, what might be a problem with it other than one’s own selfishness in acting like a control freak of what isn’t even ones businesses in the first place.
To understand there are in fact unlimited sexual dimensions out in the alley, doesn’t necessarily fit to one profile only, regardless of gender and emotional relationship held upon in heart.
Some sexual positions carry a way to create disguise, around its sexual reality, by that control one’s hate and love while hardly ever expressing any of both, unless one lives a life in supported freedom of choice!
To become expose or not is a choice individuals hardly ever make for their own, the one’s which do make a choice live one in joy or hate of one another’s!
To turn “Stars” into burning Devils is a worldly social punishment upon which is narrow minded, as narrow as ones sexual dimension who reflects a narrow attitude.
To open it up, might make all to mingle in ways that pleases the attention given or received, and more important, a desirable way to enjoy from.
Prudishness is like a sticking nail in the mind, untill one grows out of its ignorance!
Great blog, might draw greater attention to the core of it.
