Well, I looked into a poll that was taken here in Nebraska, and here are the results:
What is the biggest issue facing the legislature?
Promoting business and growth 63.8%
School financing 26.8%
Budget shortfall 9.3%
Total votes: 611
Now, I really have to ask myself something. Wouldn't financing the schools ultimately end up with the promotion and growth of businesses? I mean, the better educated as are as a society, the better our economic standings will be; it just makes sense doesn't it?
Anyways, I just thought this was an interesting poll because it continues to show that Nebraska, if not America, is truly Capitalistic and would rather have a bunch of retards making money, than have en educated country making money.
And we wonder why America get into so many wars... I mean, we obivously don't take the time to do some research on the problem or the country. Instead we just grab our guns and go. But I suppose if all we have are uneducated grunts in the armed forces, why would they stop and question a member of the government for it's actions?
In my opinion, education first. Everything else will be better with our education system gets better.

You make the HUGE, shortsighted assumption that schools teach better when they have more money to afford laser mice for computers, modern architecture, and larger teacher/administrative salaries.
Dumping money into education, besides the fact that it is abundantly vague and concealing, doesn't increase education effectiveness. Kids don't learn more when their teacher is making more money. You also need to understand that less and less money is going to our schools, which does lead to a less educated society. I am not saying that money should be dumped on the schools and have them spend it as they choose, no.
Money needs to be sent to schools and used in a responsible way. If this is done correctly, then yes, society will be better educated and because of that, our businesses will flourish a long with many other things within our society, and eventually, at an international level.
