For the longest time I refused to get a myspace account. I felt that there was no need for it because everyone that I talked to that had one did not seem very happy about it. But alas, one day my friend signed me up and I now have one of the typical myspace pages. There is color and pictures and I post blogs and find new friends. Lately though I have been questioning why I have become so myspace crazy. So I decided that there really was no good in having a myspace and I was considering deleting my account. I was searching through the bands section that is on there to listen to a new band that a friend referred to me when I saw that one of their top eight friends was something called "To Write Love On Her Arms". I thought they were a band and was going to check them out later, but I went to the other sight that I wanted to. Sure enough the same thing was on another really awesome bands top eight. I decided that I absolutely had to look at it now.
I found out that myspace is doing something amazing. The "To Write Love On Her Arms" sight is a place dedicated to one girl and a giat struggle she had with depression, addiction, and cutting. It tells her story, gives numbers that can be called if you are in the same boat as she is, and sends the message that it is ok to talk about these problems. The guy that runs the sight is named Jaime and he is one of the nicest guys in the world. He really wants to make a difference, so that we stop losing people to suicide, and he is doing in one of the best possible ways that he could. He has support from popular bands and has used myspace, which has pretty much taken over everyone's lives, and used it in a positive way.
I have not deleted my account yet, I have decided to put "To Write Love On Her Arms" on my top eight so that I can pass the message on to more people. Hopefully it will help someone and then I will not feel like the time that I spend on myspace was a complete waste of time.
If you need help or know someone who does and you do not think that anything you do can help to save them go to www.myspace.com/towriteloveonherarms and read the story. There are also numbers on there that you can call.

Amazing... I indeed find it intriguing that people will actually use Myspace for a positive purpose. Thank you for sharing the organization!
