Withdrawing troops II

I am all for withdrawing troops (as you can read in my previous blog "withdrawing troops") but I also believe that Bush has made a good point (yes I know, shocker.)

"It can be tempting to look at the challenges in Iraq and conclude our best option is to pack up and go home," he said. "That may be satisfying in the short run, but I believe the consequences for American security would be devastating."

His comcern is that if we completely pull out now, would the middle east be so pissed as to attack us? It honestly concerns me too.

The sad thing is, he was the one who put us in this position in the first place. This war should not have been dragged out this long at all. (4 years as of Monday)

In January President Bush announced that he would send 20,000 more troops to Iraq. He asked congress for $124 Billion to do so... Congress's reply? You can have the money, if you pull out everyone by July. Bush was not happy. He is threatening to veto it.

"This bill assumes and forces the failure of the new strategy even before American commanders in the field are fully able to implement their plans. Regardless of the success our troops are achieving in the field, this bill would require their withdrawal," the statement said.

The American people are losing faith in the president. It seems to me like we are all tired of him, and we are just waiting on the next election. Bush Jr. has the lowest approval rate of all of the U.S. Presidents in history. 28%, that means even his own party is a little weary of what he is doing. Bush is walking on thin ice, and has been for quite some time. I think everyone is ready to see some changes. Good luck in the next election republicans.

The Middle East doesn't want us in their backyard. They would like nothing better than for us to turn around and never bother them again. Why would it piss them off if we left? The only people it would piss off are the Israelis, and we've been babysitting them for too long to begin with.

oh they dont want us over there?
Why have they helped us then?
Why are there so many informants then?

Being in the Army, things like this affect me much more directly than I’d like; and being the most liberal person in the platoon makes for interesting conversations when things like this happen.

But you would think soldiers would be all for whatever our president would want, right? Wrong. Believe it or not there are very few soldiers that are ‘Hooah’ enough to do whatever he wants. Many of my platoon mates have been deployed two even three times to Iraq (I have one SGT that has been deployed over a dozen times since Sept 11th, he’s ex-spec for but still) Many of the soldiers want to just spend time with their families and stay home for more than a year or so just to pack everything up again, kiss their loved ones good bye and play soldier for another year in the desert.

If Bush manages to muster that many troops to deploy and doesn’t pull out by July, moral will be in the negatives. Too bad I’m not part of a union and can go on strike.

You can. It's called desertion.

Strike is legal, desertion is punishable by death, or a heafty jail time. I'd rather serve my time putting up with morons than with military criminals.

The last time anyone was executed for desertion from the U.S. was 1945. It's not really a live possibility. I'd rather serve a couple years in the brig with military criminals than to BE a military criminal. Every soldier in Iraq is exactly that, a military criminal and war criminal.

I disagree, not every soldier in Iraq is that. They took an oath when they joined, either you go...or get prosecuted. Don't you dare say that they are all war criminals when they aren't the ones at the top calling the shots.

How the hell can you even dare say that every soldier is a criminal? Who in their right mind could be so ignorant as to even think that long enough for a brain cell to fire off?

If every soldier is a criminal then what does that make the people who decided to leave the country during the draft? Or the thousands that enlisted to save your retarded ass from being counseled from one wall to the other for speaking bullshit like that. Just because I wear that uniform and that flag so that you can say things like that and not get thrown into a hole and shot (though that might not be such a bad idea) doesn’t mean I agree whole heartedly and mindlessly to every order I receive.

The next time you decide to step on your own dick that hard, make sure you have one big enough that your not bending too far down that someone can’t get to your ass hole.

Aggressive war is a crime against humanity. Nuremberg ring a bell?

Every draft dodger in history is a hero. I regret that we don't have a draft, so I could dodge it.

Ignorant, gung-ho redneck scum enlist and get blown to pieces in war. People with the brains to figure out the government is lying, and the self-worth to care that they are being lied to, stay at home and reproduce and improve the gene pool. It's Darwinism in action, when you think about it.

Then why aren't you dead yet?

Because plenty of redneck hayseeds are taking my place. I'll let them get blown up for nothing instead of myself, on any day of the year.

For nothing? You think that the fact you can say that and not get shot and put in a hole is because you want to? If you consider any freedom you have to be nothing, please, move away from this country. The communists need more brainwashees.

Well, to lie to the masses, you must have brains.
And if you have brains, and power (which is all your trying to get) youl either be part of a government, or be trying to form a new one.
Which by your defenition, means that youl lie to the public.

Becoming that same government you want gone.
Why is it that people think the only thing the government wants to do is dominate the world and everyone in it?

and isnt it funny how Marines get it every weekend, and little boys like you turn out to be gay (removing you from the gene pool)
funny how darwinism works...

deployed over a dozen times?
That would mean that the Iraq war has been going on for more then 7 years MINIMUM. nice try bud. pick a lower number

And just because they wont do WHATEVER he says, doesnt mean that they wont do their jobs, and it also doesnt mean that they dont support the president.

Because i can tell you for a fact, most of the people in my platoon have gone over 2-3 times, and have been denied requests to go back sooner then next year. sounds like moral is truly in the trenches if people are volunteering in to large of numbers to go back...
