"It doesn't matter if it's Bill Clinton or Daffy Duck" part 2

This is a continuation of my last blog.

Bill Clinton focused mainly on the gas problem. His solutions included continued research on hybrid cars in order to make them cheaper and more effective, as well as tax breaks for those who own hybrids. He also talked about alternative fuels.

In regards to the war, he stressed the importance of bringing the soldiers home, but also making support available to the soldiers, such as job opportunities and counseling. He said that Hillary's plan was to have only a small number of troops left in Iraq to act as a police force.

Bill is a charismatic speaker, and it was not difficult to see how he was elected into office the first time. I did find a few holes in his speech that I would like to talk about. First, in regards to rising gas prices, I noticed that he did not say anything about methods of energy conservation. If we grant tax breaks to hybrid owners, will we do the same for people who choose to bike or carpool to work? What about buses? Public transportation leaves a lot to be desired in most cities. Does Hillary plan to help or encourage these cities to do anything about that? As far as the war goes, Bill did not comment on whether or not there was anything to be accomplished in Iraq. He only talked about removing the troops, which, as I understand, is what most Democrats focus on.

Although I know he definitely spoke about the economy, I can't remember what he said. Was I not paying attention, or did he not say anything of substance? I find the second one more likely, because as a business major and future member of the workforce, economy is one of the most important issues to me.

One bit of wisdom he shared, which I agree with is, "If someone says it's not a money problem, then it isn't their problem." He ended by encouraging us to vote for Hillary, and if they had never married, he would still be campaigning for her. I was not a Hillary fan before, and am not sure he changed my mind. He was convincing however, and I now know many of her stances, so in the end, I am glad I went

By the way, these blogs were named from a quote I read once: "It doesn't matter if it's Daffy Duck or Bill Clinton, people just want to meet a celebrity." I found this fitting becaue, after the speech, everyone was lined up trying to shake his hand.
