What better way to start out my first entry, than to blog about my FIRST real big decision in my life. First, I need to share some background information before i get started.
Im an 18 year old homeschooled student, currently in my Senior Year. Im taking the standard curriculum with nothing out of the ordinary as my subjects. No AP classes, no college prep classes, just the standard stuff. I work about 30-35 hours a week, it was 40 in the summer and any free time i have, i spend on the computer or playing video games. I have a girlfriend of 8 months who is attending Ball State University which is roughly 60 miles away.
What is the big decision, you may ask? Well, I plan on attending the same school my girlfriend is attending. You may instantly know why, but thats not the case. At first i felt like i wanted to go there because of her, but the past 2 months it has changed. I really feel like it is the school for me now. During those 2 months, my father and I have talked about moving up there in preparation of me attending that school. The move would be soon, only because of complications with the current place we are living. I wont go into details about that, long story short, we are being forced out. Rent is always on time, it has other issues. ANYWAY.
My mind was really just set on moving up around that area just so i could be with my girlfriend and going to school there was cool also. If i had my choice of any college i would have picked Ohio State. Only because im a HUGE Buckeyes fan, but theres no way i can afford that or attend that based on my SAT scores and grades. Recently, I've come to realize that i just want to be on my own. I have no faults with my dad or anything, and I live with very little rules, mainly because i can be trusted not to do something stupid.
So im looking into this personal freedom idea, and i already know how much complicated it will make things. We could move up there and i could live with my dad off campus, and save about $3,000 because of it. OR live on campus in the dorms and learn the responsibility and what it takes to live freely.
Im at a major decision. A crossroads between what i want and what i think is best for me. Financially living at home is best, but growing up and learning, id say living in a dorm by myself. Its a tough call, more thinking is required.

If you can afford it and you want to do it - stay on campus. If you can't afford it, then you've got to do what you've got to do...
