The freedoms we lose

Has anyone ever thought of the freedoms we have and how fast we are losing them? Some of the freedoms we are losing right now may seem small but in the long run losing those freedoms will ruin this country. One of the biggest freedoms we have and are slowly losing is the right to religion. You see it everyday. A person who has a belief like Christanity for example cannot even walk down the street without being persecuted for having that belief.
Another freedom that is being taken away is the right to bear arms. Now many people say thats a good thing but in the long run its not. Taking away a weapon from the upright citizen of America just the same as accusing that person of a crime in which he or she did not commit. A last thought is that if Congress takes away our right to bear arms it will not stop the criminals from stealing a weapon and hurting someone but what will be different is that victim will not beable to defend him or herself. Having our freedoms taken away will turn our country into the other countries that our soliders have fought to change.
Our freedom of speech is also being taken away whethier or not the American people will acknowlege. Our news media is being controlled by the goverenment. There are some things that the media needs to publish but cannot because that piece of info may allow the government to lose control of the people. Why do you think you never see the awesome and cool things our troops do over in Iraq? You only see the bad.
Losing our freedoms will turn this country into ever other country that we as Americans have fought so hard to change and introduce our Democracy.
Having Personal Freedoms is gift and unfortunaley that gift is being taken away. Benjamin Franklin once said that even though he would miss the mother world he would never go back to it. Well if he saw us today I think he would go back to England. Don't you think the same way?

i totally agree with your post. we are losing our civil liberties everyday. most notably the right to bear arms as well as privacy.

check out my new blog on how the FBI was caught spying on us citizens:

I disagree on almost everything else...

Freedom of religion, which includes a lack thereof, is being stripped. This country is turning into a Christian Right Society, or there's a good push for it. To say that Christians can't walk down the street without being persecuted is just... silly. The fact that religious beliefs (Christian) are being pushed into our government and law is what I see as a threat to my non-religious freedom. The separation of church and state, which was a big part of the US basis for our Constitution is growing narrower.

Right to bear arms... this was added into the Bill of rights because we were in the Revolutionary War. British soldiers would invade homes. It was a necessity THEN. You're right, people will always find a way to get guns, criminals and people that think everyone's out to get them. Too many people get accidentally shot. People don't take good care of their weapons, as far as safety and keeping them away from kids.

Freedom of speech.... I totally disagree with your point-of-view that the media is controlled by the government to show only the bad things that happen in Iraq. The fact is, PEOPLE own news stations and THEY decide what goes on air. Bad things in the war, tragedies in general are what they decide to use as news. Fear and tragedy sell. A lot of what the government does is covered up.

Freedom of assembly.... You didn't mention this, but I will. Thanks to the "Patriot" Act, there is a strict assembly law. Also thanks to the "Patriot" Act, government agencies were legally allowed to tap any phone or any type of spying they wished. (That portion of the Act has since expired, but it didn't stop.) The "Patriot" Act is stealing our freedoms. They call it that just so people support it. If you read the entire thing, the only people that would support it are those that have bought into the fear campaigns.

i somewhat agree with you i just dont believe the gov has christian influence because if it did then why is the gov so corrupt and so apt to take away the rights and freedoms that we need.
I still stand firm on the media control but hey thats a matter of opinion and i do agree with u about the GOP they are in it for profits. anyway thanks for the comment :)
