I'll take the VeggieTale platter

Something I realized a few minutes ago -

I think just about everyone in the world has heard the Veggietale themesong, or knows something about the show. *hums* If you like to talk to tomatoes, if a squash can make you smile...if you like to waltz with potatoes, up and down the produce aiiiiiiisle...Have we got a show for you!

So what makes Veggietales stand out? Its funny. Its catchy. It has music. And it has MORALS. There is *GASP* A moral to the story. Not only that, while geared for children, adults won't find it altogether sleep-inducing either. Flip on the tv and what do you see? Something teaching children how lies can blow up in their faces. Or to be respectful to their elders. Or, heaven forbid, to love themselves for exactly who they are.

While children need to know these lessons, I think people of any age need to hear them too! Be a life-long learner guys, instead of just letting yourself roll through the years with not a care for who or what you hurt. (That includes YOURSELF by the way!)

So next time you flip on the television, don't pass over your friendly veggies. While I wouldn't suggest eating them (they are simply too cute to actually taste good, and I think I might cry afterward) - give their silly songs and dances a chance. Maybe we could all find something entertaining and worth learning from a children's show. It wouldn't surprise me.

-End hourly wonderings.

I find it interesting that you left out the most important part of Veggie Tales. They're based on the teachings of the Christian Bible. Might be good to mention that, but I feel like you didn't for a reason.

You are right, I did not mention that for a reason. While I believe in the Christian teachings portrayed, I was attempting to keep this fairly neutral, focusing more on the general teachings in children's television that support kindness, respect etc than specifics that could be of use to people double, triple, quadruple their age.

I used to hate that show when I was little, but I grew to love it. I know other people who feel the same way. I think little kids go into it expecting a moral lesson, so they immediately decide they hate it. Later, you can watch it for the silly songs, and endearing characters.

I love that show. I am super excited that The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything is coming to a theater near me this summer! I'm not a big Jesus freak, so I enjoy the way it tells moral tales in a fairly ecumenical way. It has its super Christian moments, but a large percentage of the tales are just good morals without doctrine.
