Right now on every station it is all the same music. The stations claim to play different music then their competition, however, it is all the same sound. Why can't radio stations be different, play what isn't as popular? I suppose its all about ratings, and how many listeners a day, but maybe someone could be in it for the music and joy not money! I love to listen to music that isn't so popular, infact thats all I really listen to. Radio stations are a waste if its all the same, they could all come together and just be one HUGE station! Then they would be making the big bucks.

Pretty sure that a Christian Rock station and a Country station and an 80's rock station play different music. Maybe a little bit of overlap, since some songs can be considered in multiple genres. But I don't think that all stations play the same thing. Yes, one or two per genre obviously do, since there's only so much music in a given genre.

I might have generalized a litte bit. My point was that the stations that play rock, or country, or christian tend to play a lot of the same music. The stations that are different are not as advertised so it is harder to find them. I do see your point, but I am just bored with most of the stations that are out there. I live in a small town and the stations that are available are all the same, there are only a few stations that get good reception. I just wish people would branch out a little bit.
Mm... I do see your point, and I had a discussion with a friend of mine about it a few weeks ago. It seems that the 'newest and most popular' songs are played again and again and again, and even the older 'hits' from a few years ago are hardly ever played anymore. You can always do internet radio stations, though. You can tailor some of them to your own tastes, regardless of what they are. I generally use Launchcast (music.yahoo.com), though the commercials there get very annoying.

Try Accuradio.com. The commercials are few and only 10 seconds long really, and you can narrow down what you hear by deselecting artists that you dont want them to play. Each genre has a channel and there are subchannels within each. We use accuradio a lot at work.
Hug a musician, they never get to dance.
