Just thought I should throw in a quickie here (ha I said a quickie, but no time to laugh about that now).
I just witnessed how nice people can be for complete strangers and it filled me with utter satisfaction.
Let me start my little story…. (Queue shaky background to enhance feeling of time warp)
It all started about half an hour ago, when I went on lunch. I had to walk to subway for a little celebration of my last day at work (which is today), so I was walking to Subway full of content about the wonderful BMT on parmesan Oregano (no idea how to spell that), When I got to Subway I ordered this sandwich and was content to just sit back and watch the magic of making food (im a fat kid on the inside). When they were done I walked briskly (yes briskly) to the register and handed over my credit card.
The man swiped my card and in his heavy Indian voice (real Indian actually, not Native American) he said “Sorry, your card is declined”…. It shouldn’t be, I just used it yesterday, so I handed him my gift card thingy from a bank, “sorry, this one is declined two” WEIRD, it’s just a gift check card????
So I started to panic a little wondering what to do… when someone behind me asked. How much is it… the man told her, she saw a measly two dollars in my hand and said “well give me your two dollars and I will pay for the rest” not wanting to take advantage I told her that it was fine, and she insisted. This was really nice to me; she didn’t have to do that at all.
So then I wanted to make sure the machine at subway was working properly so I went to the Smoothie King next door. I ordered one small smoothie and again my card was declined pissed off I handed the man my smoothie and described all the ways I was going to murder the credit card company to myself, he handed it back saying that it was no big deal… again people were being really nice.
SO now it is my obligation to “Pay it Forward” as some say, but I am definitely going to buy the guy at the Smoothie place a Smoothie later in the week.
So I just wanted to describe how nice some strangers can be, and say how I do have high wants for this world and plan to do my best to just show others how “not bad” the world can be… I hope you do the same
Cheers!
HMMMM SMOOTHIE

The store I used to work at never accepted those Visa gift cards either. I don't know why, the machine just wouldn't approve them. It was weird. And there wasn't like a zip code associated with them, or an expiration date on them so we couldn't just call the approval phone number either. It made for some unhappy customers.
Anyway, it's always nice when strangers do random acts of kindness like that. It kind of restores my faith in Humanity a little bit. :-) And, free smoothie!! Yay! I get those sometimes... like one of the coffee places I go to always happens to be experimenting with smoothie flavors when I walk in so I get to be a guinea pig. ;-)
"What a crazy random happenstance!"

I cashier so I actually have put people in better moods. I know how to deal with people. Many people need to understand that when people are being rude sometimes they are just having a bad day. Of course other times they are that way, but there is nice people. I am a nice person. I have had people stare at me in amazement because I held the door open for them etc.
That was nice of that person to do that for you. I am not that nice though because I don't have alot of money because my job doesn't schedule me enough. I could go on cursing my job, but we wouldn't want that. :). I guess it depends how much your sub was. Maybe I would of paid if it was under 10 dollars. lol.

Love comments? I do too!
It just happened to be a 5 dollar foot long and i had about 4 in my pocket so she had to pay roughly 4.50
Being a cashier has got to be rough, some people just mis-direct thier angers at others who are there to serve them, it's quiet sad really...

I like being a cashier, waitressing was worse. I did that when I was 17-18. People would blame your food being messed up like it was your fault. Then the greedy people who wouldn't tip. I worked at waffle house and it sucked. I would show up and there would be no cook. I would then have to cook and wait tables then recieve not a single tip from some people. Cashier is alot better, but you still get the rude people.
Sorry to disappoint you, but I am voting for Lewis Black.
