How do you feel when the band you love get's "big"?
I asked a lot of fans of different bands and their opinion of their bands becoming popular. They all had different opinions. A lot of their opinions were justified.
What do you think?
Personally for me, I think they do deserve the popularity but there is also a down side.
The true fans who were there from the start, may think that the "new" fans are not "true" fans.
When these so called "new" fans who recently became fans of the band don't really know the band. They only know like a couple of songs. They don't know who the band really is or what is their story. This probably isn't the case for all of the new fans who truely become the band's true fans.
Some, not all, "new" fans who call themselves "the number one fan" barely know the band and they act like they knew them all their lives.
For example, I went to a bands website during lunch in the library. This girl was sitting next to me and said " Are those the "(insert band name here)'s "
i said yea.
"I love the new song (insert song that is from another band)"
She called herself a "fan" which wasn't true. She didnt even know the names of the band members.
But all this will not make me like them any less.

I'm opposed to the poser fans as well. It's nice that the band I love is gaining more recognition, but some of these bands--I've talked to and laughed with and had coffee afterwards with them when they played in small venues at $6 a show. Now I'm just another nameless myspace fan who can't attend their next performance because it's $30 a ticket at a huge stadium and I have bills to pay.
I'm also a big fan of loving bands no one has heard of. ;-)

I also love small local bands. In fact one of my favorite band members comes in to my work and says hi to me every once in a while. But I am happy for the bands who don't let their ego get to them.
