does it seem as if the government is not spending enough time or money to provide affordable heathcare to its children? Funding the war is the highest priority at the moment, and the health of millions of children is being overlooked. Growing up, my family did not have health insurance. My dad's position as pastor at a small church did not bring in much income. We adjusted to not having insurance, and learned that we couldn't go to the doctor unless we were seriously ill. I remember times when i felt terrible--but in knew that we could not afford to pay the doctor's bill. So, instead of complaining, i just took nyquil or benadryl; i tried to ignore the fact that i was sick. When my younger brother was diagnosed with type one diabetes, however, my dad realized that we needed health insurance to help cover the costs associated with his disease. The initial $5000 hospital bill after he was diagnosed was unavoidable, but my parents immediatley applied for a new health insurance created for families that did not meet requirements for government health insurance. Our health insurance, CHIP, is affordable, and helps pay for my brothers diabetic supplies each month. Thus said, i cannot imagine living even a month without health insurance to help relieve some of the costs of my brother's supplies. My family would go into serious debt if we had to pay $500 for his supplies each month-my father is supporting my mother as well as me and my five siblings. So, why would the governmnet continually overlook the necessity for children to have affordable health insurance. I have to think that if my parents didn't take my brother to the doctor, doctor's bill and all, he could have gone into a diabeitc coma, and would have suffered serious complications. I think this situation happens to millions of people not covered by health insurance-they are so used to ignoring the symptoms of being ill that they overlook a serious disease or sickness. If the government would simply pay more attention to the health of its people, and spend time creating affordable government insurance, many people would be saved, or at least have better health.

I agree health care is a big issue. The only reason my neice and nephews probably have health insurance b/c of maedicaid. I haven't have insurance since I was 19, b/c I can't afford it. It's good that there is some assistance out their for children, but I'm sure more could be done.
I don't have insurance either, and I have an illness that could turn deadly if not treated right away...if it is what my doctor thinks it is. Unfortunately, I don't qualify for any of the lower-costing insurances out there. And now that I am 18, I've got to start paying for my own. I'm trying to find a job, but no one will higher me since I don't have any experience yet. Until I can find a job that pays enough money, I cannot get insurance...therefore allowing my health problem to get worse, which increases the difficulty in curing it. I wish the stupid government would open up their eyes already and realize how much they're endangering their own people in this manner...
