Condemning North Korea=More than a little hypocritical.

I would probably be the last person to say that I'm 100% ok with North Korea having nuclear weapons. I mean, the guy with his finger on the button kidnapped his favorite movie director and actress and basically held them hostage in his palace for a while. Yeah...little crazy. Just a little. At the same time though, I think it's ridiculous for all the other nations to go around condemning them for having nuclear capability. We all have nukes too! Especially our dear old United States. We have way more nukes than anyone else in the World! So it seems to me that we don't have the right to tell other people they can't have them. Unless of course we want to get rid of ours. I would be more than happy with that, and then I would have no problem telling other countries they can't have them either. Honestly, I'm not really comfortable with the guy we've got holding his finger menacingly over the doomsday button. Especially when he's so fundamentally religious. Who knows, tomorrow "god" may "tell" George W. that bombing the crap out of Russia is the "right" thing to do. Then, my friends, we are litterally and figuretively "done for". Because G. Dub's first priority is to the Chirstian God almighty who hasn't been very tolerant as of late...strange.
Personally, as afraid as I am of Kim Jong Ill because of the wonderful Foreign policy our country exhibits; I think it's a good thing that North Korea has the bomb. It's a checks and balances kind of thing. It's what this country was founded on. They wanted to be sure no one could ever gain supreme power. North America, when it comes to machienes of war, has taken over the World. We even have the UN so that we can tell countries who oppose us that they can't have the bomb. That is unfair, and completely against what the founders of this country were about. There should not be a Nation with such powerful millitary that no one can oppose them. Yeah, we still fight wars, but if you think about it, if George W. was allowed to put as much money into our millitary as he wanted, no one would stand a chance against us. I seriously doubt Bagdad would still be standing. I honestly believe that if the millitaristic leaders of our country had their way these historically rich cities in the Middle East would now lay in crumbling heaps of deadly radiation. Not that they won't lay in crumbling heaps once we're done with them, which will probably be never.
So I say let North Korea keep their nuclear weapons. Sure we may have to be nicer to countries our more "patriotic" citizens may not like, but at least we are honoring the wishes of our ancestors by instilling a checks and balances system for ourselves. We need to know that we can't just stomp around the World and not expect retaliation.

BTW, I think Russia has more nukes than us. We have a lot, don't get me wrong, but they have more. I saw a table recently on CNN.com or somewhere when I read an article on the topic. I can't find it now...

You have a good point. I think there is something to be said about the hypocrisy of US position on DPRK nukes; however, keeping nuclear bombs out of the hands of a mad man is justifiable in my opinion. (Though the same could be said for our own presidential mad man).

The situation will only destabilize the region and put Japan, South Korea, Russia and China on edge. (Give it a few more years, and the US will be there too).
