Why I chose my my major, will I one day change the world?? We all can.

My major is actually a double major in International Business and Relations. I chose these majors because they are two fundamental studies that greatly affect the world we live in. Business is essential in any career field because it teaches you how to manage people, organizations and most importantly finances. Whether it is your own finances or a company, in order to succeed in this world you need to know how to handle money properly, responsibly and effectively. As we progress into the future our world and economies become more globalized which means knowledge in International Affairs gives us a better understanding of how political issues affect our society. I feel that the American society is one revolved around irresponsible consumerism and to some extent narcissism. Our media focuses a lot on celebrities’ and living the good life when there a millions of people in this world still suffering from poverty and inhumane treatment. When I first entered college my life revolved around what shoes I was going to buy next and who would be out at the club, but I began to learn about the much larger issues affecting our world and that there is much more out there than the mere drama of our daily lives. I hope to one day be financially stable so that I may help others not only financially, but through inspiration, and education. As we become more educated the less likely we are to become a victim of our surroundings and we become empowered to take our destiny into our own hands. This is a message I hope to one day send to not just Americans or Latinos but to the global youth for in the future we will be the leaders of our nations and the fate of our world lies in our hands. It is our responsibility to make it a safer, more peaceful place for our children and their children.
