Nearly four out of five Americans, including 70 percent of Republicans, believe civil war will break out in Iraq — the bloody hot spot upon which Bush has staked his presidency. Nearly 70 percent of people say the U.S. is on the wrong track, a 6-point jump since February.
The poll suggests that most Americans wonder whether Bush is up to the job. The survey, conducted Monday through Wednesday of 1,000 people, found that just 37 percent approve of his overall performance. That is the lowest of his presidency.
Bush's job approval among Republicans plummeted from 82 percent in February to 74 percent, a dangerous sign in a midterm election year when parties rely on enthusiasm from their most loyal voters. The biggest losses were among white males.
On issues, Bush's approval rating declined from 39 percent to 36 percent for his handling of domestic affairs and from 47 percent to 43 percent on foreign policy and terrorism. His approval ratings for dealing with the economy and Iraq held steady, but still hovered around 40 percent.
Personally, far fewer Americans consider Bush likable, honest, strong and dependable than they did just after his re-election campaign.
The AP-Ipsos poll has a margin of error of 3 percentage points.

So how do you feel about our Commander and Cheif?

Surprise, surprise.
With all of the bad news and very little good news for the President, how can people have faith in him? Even if it's natural for war to break out in burgeoning governments, and even if the Dubai ports deal would have been good logically ... people attribute both successes and failures to the President. He is the face of America whether we like it or not, after all.
No surprise at all. Bush fails to meet the Americans' needs. All he cares is war of terrorism. What about other issues? On TV, the only thing he has been talking about is Iraq Iraq Iraq. What about social security? what about health care coverage? I think he deserve to have a lower approval rate to like a 20 or something along that line.
The only honorable thing for GW to do is resign into handcuffs, along with the rest of his scheming administration. Case closed.
Not many people like Bush. I don't agree with some of his decisions, but some are ok. I am too young to vote though, so it doesn't really matter yet.

Interesting to note that there are no comments on the casualties incurred in this stupid and needless war.
Over 2300 DEAD
2300 looks too small, so let me put it this way
TWO THOUSAND AND THREE HUNDRED DEAD.
Thats better, these DEAD are your fathers, mothers, sisters, brothers, husbands, wives, children, siblings.
They are YOUR RELATIVES.
More than that, They WERE AMERICA'S FUTURE.
America is damaged immeasurably by the loss of these fine young people.
You, and that means every American will for now and for the next 100 years be paying through higher taxation (& I would suggest that unlike his Father's advice (You DO NOT watch his lips)), do not kid yourself, as you enter employment over the next 5 to 10 years, your Taxes will rise and continue to rise.
Your standard of life will decrease.
Naturally this will not affect every American.
Your viewpoint will/might be, how do I avoid this, the answer.
BECOME A POLITICIAN.
To LauraTati,
YOU ARE WRONG.
Decisions made now are already affecting you.
his ratings only drop

Well, I can't say that I'm surprised.
Since he's been in office our National Debt has risen. It's the highest it's ever been. I honestly think he's going to be America's downfall. The next president we have better be a miracle worker if we hope to survive the damage that has been done these past several years. But considering the fact that this next election will probably turn into a circus competition, I highly doubt we'll see anyone qualified enough to fix every single problem we have.
But hopefully the next will do something a little more productive than Bush.
