I know we are supposed to believe that the police are here to protect us, but we still here cases of cops raping girls , police brutality, cops stealing from the people they pull over,etc. Are we supposed to forget those things or look over them or what. Not all police are crooked I actually know some pretty cool cops , but for those that I don't know , how am I supposed to know Im safe with them?

I find it hard to trust anyone, but I try to give them the chance until I'm proved to believe differently
Just use the natural instinct...if i feel that i can trust someone, i would give all my trust to that person without a second thought.

Use your instincts and common sense. You always have the ability to tell an officer that you are uncomfortable in a situation - like if it's dark and no one's around - and ask to go to a more populated area. They have to comply, and if a cop is the real deal, they won't be too pissed.
I can honestly say that I have never in my life had a good experience with a cop. EVER. it's always some guy pulling me and my mom over late at night trying to get us to get out of the car for no reason or some guy arresting my dad for driving while black. Even though my brother is a cop I hate them more than any other people on this earth. I want to trust them and I want to believe there are people who actually aim to serve and protect, but I'll have to be proven wrong first.
I'm gonna write a nonsensical book and leave it in a cave. 500 years later people will worship me
