Since I am not 100 years old, I did not have the pleasure, or displeasure, as the case may be, of experiencing the 666 phenomenon in 1906 (and I can wager that, given the limited tools of communication available at that time, many people alive at that time didn't either). But I can tell you that anyone claiming a special knowledge of this day, or that this day is related in any way to anything of significance is full of nonsense.
Every 100 years since the inception of our current dating system there has been a "666" day. Furthermore, there are instances of this series of numbers appearing on a daily basis within computer programs, libraries, etc... Simply mapping the date 06-06-06, or 6/6/2006 to read "666" smacks of consumer convenience. I was honestly surprised at first that this story is receiving press on such "important" news portals as Google News, and I don't think that it would be except that all sorts of crazy people are coming out of the woodwork to shout their pseudo-religious babble. The day itself isn't news... but the fact that so many people in the world are willing to alter their lives in response to a day that, if we subtract a few numerals, might equal "666," just might be.

Not to mention this happens twice a day at 6:06.06 am and pm...
