Graduating High School and Cliches

I graduate high school next saturday. I guess I am supposed to be all sentimental and weepy, with cliches just spilling out of my mouth about how the four years went fast and how looking back these years should be the best of my life (to that I say, the person that made that up obviously didn't have a life outside of high school). I'm not sentimental, weepy and I am proud to say that I haven't used a stupid cliche in anyone's yearbook. Maybe I have been desensitized after watching all those reruns of Nip/Tuck and CSI. Maybe I have finally matured and according to Erik Erikson, a person can't continue onto the next phase of life without completing the previous one.

I live in a small town, and by small town I mean, population of about 5,000 and way to many antique stores...why is that? Every small town skips the important stuff and goes overboard on loading up on the nostalgia. It is probably because small towns = kitschy, hometown feel. People come from the city in order to see cows and trees. Believe me, I see cows all the time, they aren't that big of a deal.

I guess in a move to prove that I will not live in a small town forever I am going to college in Philly. It is a rebellion, I know.

So how are you graduating high school seniors doing? I have so much going on it is unbelieveable.

Yeah I am graduating on the 12th. I cant wait to get out of here.

I was in such a hurry to get out of my high school I started college before I was even done!

Look at it honestly and take what the memories hold.
But ya, whoever said high school was the best four years of their life apparently didn't go to college, or marry well, or get a very good job afterward.

Memories are overrated.
