"Eleven Seconds"

A lot can happen in eleven seconds;

It takes eleven seconds to offer up a quick prayer that you say just the right thing to that special person...

It takes eleven seconds to finally get up enough courage to hit the send button...

It also takes eleven seconds for the number to dial, ring once, and diconnect for no apparant reason...

Then, of course it takes eleven seconds (or even less) to propose in your mind the most terrifying conclusion:

that he hung up on you...

Eleven seconds for that one little tear to roll from the corner of your right eyelid to your lip...

Eleven seconds for you to determine that you will NOT cry...

Then of course eleven more seconds for you to receive a new text message on your phone...

So naturally it takes eleven seconds for your hopes to shoot through the roof, thinking foolishly that maybe he was the

one sending you the adorable note with whinnie the pooh, flying hearts, and music to top it off...

Eleven seconds to realize the cute note was from your little brother...

All of these things can happen in eleven seconds...

But you want to know what can't happen in eleven seconds?

Your feelings won't go away in eleven seconds, Nor will the hurt.

The time it takes for him to call you back certainly won't happen in eleven seconds...

No, these things take a whole lot longer than that.

Sometimes I wish EVERYTHING happened in just eleven seconds!

But alas, all the wrong things happen in eleven seconds.

It does seem like the painful things happen so quickly, and yet recovering from them takes so much longer. I'm sorry you're hurting right now.

Thanks for the encouragement. But I just have to remember that everything happens in its time, even if it doesn't happen in eleven seconds!
