Can video games be addicting? I think so because I am addicited to a MMORPG (Massive Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game) called Conquer Online 2.0. Conquer Online is kind of like World of Warcraft except it is not as big as W.O.W. Anyways, I started this game almost a year ago, and I can't seem to quit playing it. People I have talked to on the game have said they have played for years, but they never seem to ever get tired of it. They also said that it was a very addicting game, but they do not know why it is so addicting. At my school everybody seems to never get enough of Halo 2. They are always having tournaments or bets on who is going to get the most kills. When I start to think about it I think that video games can only get really addicting when you are playing with other people because it makes it so much more fun, especially when you get to meet new people everyday. What do you think about this subject? Do you think games are addicting? Why or why not?

You aren't addicted, you just have poor impulse control. The only valid addictions come with physical withdrawl symptoms, which I can guarantee you won't have if you quit cold turkey. You are confusing the common usage of "addiction" with actual addiction. You just don't want to own up to the fact that you can't control how much time you spend on a particular activity.
This isn't addiction. It's just faddish popularity. Anything you enjoy can turn into something you enjoy too much. That doesn't mean your addicted. Would you suck a cock to get your Command and Conquer fix? No. Your not addicted. You are just another spoiled kid who thinks that because he has too much leisure time and spends it poorly he is addicted. Stop it, there are real addicts out there. Snort some meth for a couple of weeks and then come tell me about addictions and jonesing.
What is it with pansy middle classers and wanting to steal even the misery from the poor? "Hey look at me, I am a miserable addict, too!" It's fucking disgusting. You want to claim real addiction you better have some nasty stories about MMOs ruining lives and shit, not just taking up time.
Res ipsa loquitur.
memor mori, mahalo.
Why does everything have to be about being addicted. Isn't is possible to just really like something a lot. I mean when people like each other they sometimes hangout 24 hours a day, 7 days a week so does that qualify as being addicted to another person? People are not addicted to video games. They are an enjoyable means of entertainment, like a movie, or going to the circus, except when you play a video game your not just sitting there like a zombie watching other people, you are using your mind.
