Like many other college students were here to make our future and the future of the world a better place....like many other college students were wondering WHY IS EVERYTHING SO DARN EXPENSIVE!!!!I work two jobs, one on the college campus and the other at a restaurant as a waitress/casheir, I make pretty good money if you combine the two, but their minimum wage, I live at home with parents since the community college isnt that far from the house, but what if I went directly to a four year university? It would have been alot harder I mean Citrus is a great school don't get me wrong its the books I'm harping about! I mean I end up paying five times as much for the books than enrollment! Now I think that is a bit ridiculous right? I mean here we are a college students trying to get an education, some live on campus or with their buddies, trying to make it on their own, but how is that possible when everything is so darn expensive? I mean I'm taking a Japanese class and the book is $120! You would think that the authors of the books would make it a LITTLE cheaper....I mean they sell a ton of them already!I mean were just trying to be as successful as them...when did everyone get so greedy?!Well actually with all these prices rises (esp. gas) i wouldnt blame them...but a little discount would be nice....

I'm a senior high school student who worried about the incoming wave of expenses for college. I'll be going to a UC and I'm scared as hell as to how I'm gonna pay for all the expenses. I have no job and the only thing I'm hoping for is some miracle that the scholarships that I'm applying to are gonna cover it all. I feel your dread and pain...hang in there.
Text books are expensive because you have to pay the publishers, the editors, the printers, copyrights cost money, paying for the privelege of using someone else's copyrighted work (photographs, etc.). There's a lot of money involved with making a text book. The authors don't actually see a lot of the money that comes from a text book. From the $120 you pay, they might break even if they're lucky... because not all the books they paid to publish are actually going to sell. And when they come out with a new edition, they make even less because of people like me who believe an extra paragraph or a different size or color of font isn't worth paying for a new book when I can get the previous edition for $10 on Ebay. That's why most of them have "second jobs" as university professors and/or researchers.

You can find some decent prices on a lot of text books through there. I saved $300 off the list price for the books I needed once. For one SEMESTER.
