Gas Prices Are INSANE!!!

Tagged:  •    •

I have been driving for a few years now and over this time i have litterally watched gas prices grow like the grass outside. When i started driving it was at one point under $2. But currently the prices are all over $3. I can't even imagine the bill for the truckers who have diesel vehicles. Diesel is well over $4 in my area. These prices are probably even worse in more populated areas and in the major cities. Driving is becoming such an expensive habbit and theres nothing we can do to stop this unimmaginable inflation. You now have to spend half of your paycheck just to fill up your gas tank to get to and from work. Many people are changing jobs due to driving distance and the great cost of gas for the trip. People make suggestions like ride a bike or car pool but in reality, everybody is going to keep driving and everyone is going to keep paying these outrageous prices. Its not that we want to but its the fact that we rely so much on driving that we can't live with out it.

I pay $3.65 average per gallon in San Diego. California has some of the highest gas prices in the country and it stinks for us even more due to the fact we have so much traffic all the dang time. My dad worked at a gas station in the 70s and he said that it was a big upset when it went over a DOLLAR! Over a dollar?! Won't that be the day...

hah. this made me laugh because, when I started driving, I remember hearing people complaining that gas was going up to 79 cents a gallon.

oh I feel old and it's sad. because I'm not at all. :-P

I was watching CNN earlier. They showed a picture of a sign at a Shell station in California- Death Valley maybe- where regular unleaded was $5.159 per gallon. OUCH! Diesel there was $5.149. I've been driving for 16 years and I remember back in the days that gas was under $1/gallon.

In Indianapolis, they extended bus routes, which had gotten cut a lot over the past several years, to hit surrounding cities several times a day. People driving 45 minutes into the city to work were struggling.

I ride a motorcycle whenever possible and more and more people I know are getting 2-wheeled machines. It's great on gas. I have a '71 and still get 50+ miles per gallon. If you consider this, the lower the CCs, the more efficient on gas. A 350 is perfect for me. I can ride on the interstate, but it's still efficient.

Americans are not the biggest consumers of gas. China is a major contributer to the influx of demand. Also on CNN, they mentioned that less oil is leaving oil-producing countries because the demand has increased there as well.

It's a mess. Someone needs to get serious about alternative energy and, in the meantime, sell some affordable hybrids.
