Cat and Mouse

Remember when you were little and you played tag? No one ever wanted to be "it" because seriously, it was such a bitch to run after everyone else. And everyone was so much faster...clearly I sucked at this game. I think as we get older we continue to play tag, except we have a much different word for it: DATING. Sadly, I suck at this game as well.
Case in point: In January, I meet someone who sparks my interest. He seems interested as well. Numbers are exchanged and we meet up again. Ok, so instead of "running", which means flirting and playing hard to get, I sit there and spew all this anti-relationship stuff, which I KNOW was wrong but it was like word vomit, continually flowing out without any control. In my defense, I had gotten out of a 3 yr relationship 4 months ago and yes, maybe I shouldn't have been dating, but you can't choose when you meet someone you actually like. Anyways, maybe it wasn't as bad as I made it seem and he seems unphased by it and the date actually ends nicely. We text each other for a while after, then slowly, it grows to a stop. So a month passes and in the middle of March I get a message from him talking about phone being broken, blah blah contact him. So I do, and a short text convo ensues. Then, nothing. Til the other day when this guy randomly texts me "heyy". What am I supposed to say to this? Who's doing the running? Who is "it"? But the biggest question of all is how did I get stuck in this game of tag that is ridiculously long?
Ok, so I know that it's my fault for even responding to such a flake, but can you blame me? It's been 8 months since I've been single and not a single person I meet aside from Mr. Flake, has managed to catch my attention. Yes, I am yet another 20 something year old female who goes after men that don't give me the proper attention I deserve. Call me a statistic and let's call it a day.

Don't worry about who is chasing who. Just be, and things will fall into place. Be open with the dude. You never know how things will work out.
