Savin' the Earth: Now What?

So those of you who read this with any regularity know that while I am not an environmental saint by any means, my household and I go a long way toward reducing our negative impact on the environment; we bike almost everywhere, we recycle (even things that can't be put on on the curb, we find ways to recycle,) we grow food in our yard, we plant trees, we tear out invasive species, we buy mostly locally grown, suistainable, fair-trade food (and pay a lot more for it, I might add,) we use recycled clothes, books, toliet paper (made, not from other toliet paper, but other paper waste.) So my question is: what do we do now? Where do we go from here? I know there are other things we could (and probably should,) be doing for the environment, but what are those things? I'm looking for ideas and suggestions folks....
Right off the top of my head, here are some things that I realized we probably should be doing, but haven't gotten around to yet, for whatever reason:
1) re-use the grey water from the downstairs bathroom and washing machine to flush toliet in downstairs bathroom...
2) build a chicken coop in the yard so we can have truely local, suistainable, free-range eggs
3) buy more food at local farmer's markets
4) recycle even the stuff that New Season's won't take...take "unrecyclable" plastics to the plastic factory Coral was talking about
5) dumpster more food

So, any other ideas folks? I need really creative environmental solutions me and my household can get going on...the natives are restless...we need new projects...
Love always,
Carrot

Check for air leaks around your house. That should keep you occupied for a while.

Rain water cisterns? I'm not sure what kind of climate you're in to see if it'd even be worth it, but theres always that.

She's in Oregon, I think Water cisterns would probably get plenty of use. Other than that, I suppose some basics like making sure none of your faucets leak, your house is insulated, that kind of thing, as well as educating others how to help the enviroment. Or perhaps you could host a city wide garage sale and donate funds to a enviromental cause.

Both of those ideas are awsome....we definately have some drafts that we could do something about which would cut down on our heating bill (as well as be good for the environment,) and we have talked about catching rainwater for gardening and other uses...we live in Portland, OR a notoriously rainy city, and I'm sure we could catch and use a lot of that rain for good.

Thank you,
Carrot
