Why don't more people go to college, even 1 class a semester??

Hi, for years it was hard for me to go to college because I was active duty navy and in and out a lot.  Computers on the ship wasn't dependable.  As soon as I got out, actually right before I got out I started school for Nursing.  Just a 14 month program for LPN but still something.  And from now on I see myself always going to college even if all I take is 1 class a semester.   Even if you are poor you can try to get financial aid and schlorships.  I think more education always pays off in the long run one way or another.

I have some questions to ask of you.

1. do you go to college?

2. how many classes do you take?

3. do you encourage others to go to college?

4. where do you/can you get the money to go to college??

Yes, I go to college. I take about 16 units (four classes) a semester. I encourage people to do what's best for them. I get a lot of money from my parents, and I have a couple small scholarships and also a couple of student loans.

I have friends, though, who can't go to college because even with financial aid, it's too expensive. I also have friends who could probably afford to go to college with the aid of their parents, but their parents won't help them at all. The government expects parents to help pay for college, but there's no law forcing them to do so. So they're often forced to go straight into the workforce.

I have been going since summer. This term I am only taken one class. More people need to know that it is possible.

or you have it reimbursed, one class is prohibitively expensive.

Quite a large number of universities charge you a full tuition regardless of the number of units you’re taking. Other universities may charge about 60% of the tuition if you take only 2 classes or less. If you take only one class per semester, it starts to add up very quickly, and you’ll be no closer to graduating.

Generally, I actually don’t recommend people go to college if they can’t afford it. What I recommend is that they immediately apply themselves in the industry they love, and force their career path in the direction they want. For instance, if you want to be a manager, apply to a position at a company that promotes managers from within. Businesses like Enterprise Rent-a-car are famous for promoting front line sales staff to regional managers. If you like marketing, apply to be an assistant drafter or any other position that will help you break into marketing. You don’t need college to lead a comfortable life where you are in control.

However, if the kid who’s going to college has serious ambitions or serious talent, then it is worth going to college no matter the cost. Get a heavy loan, beg friends and family, do anything at all possible to get in. This is because only people who know exactly why they’re going to college will benefit from having the degree. If you're just going to college because you think it will help your career somehow, that just not a good enough reason.
