"The difference between school and life? In school, you're taught a lesson and then given a test. In life, you're given a test that teaches you a lesson.”- Tom Bodett
I have decided that this is my new favorite quote of all time. It is actually accurate.
In school we are taught a lesson, then given a test.--- Look at any school subject....english for example...we are taught grammer rules, then we are expected to remember them and later we are given a test on the things we "learned". My question is this- Are we learning anything really? We are forced to memorize things, but I don't think that is considered really learning anything. Just because we have memorized it, doesn't mean that it will ever be used again.
In life, we are given a test that teaches a lesson.--- Looking at things in my life I must say that I have had to thru the normal things. Parents being overprotective, sister annoying me, friends stabbing me in the back, being hurt by guys, and falling in love. Seems normal and you think nothing of it, right? Well take a look at your life...I have been tested so many times on things, and with a few of them I had to take the test a few times before learning the lesson. I dated a guy who told me that he wouldn't hurt me, well he did. Then I was stupid enough to take him back 3 times. See, took me a few times to learn my lesson. Sometimes the lessons we learn are harder than others. Sometimes, the we think we won't make it thru the tests, but in the end, things seem to work out.
For me, the hardest test was the longest test. Learning to trust myself and others. I had to be put thru that test more times than I care to remember. And after each time, I had to keep reminding myself to remember the lesson.

It is very accurate and unfortuanately, some people never seem to learn the lessons.
And, no, I don't think that most of the current education systems actually teach us anything other than how to get through the next test and spit back the information that the teacher requires of us. Although, it possibly teaches us how to find the information if necessary.
now, some of the classes i;m taking teach me useless stuff. When are we going to use some of the things we learn in class if we dont do a career that pertains to that info? I'm in a computer class and the program we use costs 700 bucks if we were to buy it ourselves so the things we learn to use the program for, we dont know how to use them for publisher or whatever.
