Has anyone heard about what is going on in Colorado? They may cancel the Christopher Columbus Day Parade. Did he single handedly oppress the native americans? Wasn't the day set up to celebrate explorers and the founding of 'America'? What about those with Italian heritage, this was their St. Patricks Day. Is it fair to cancel the parade or should something else be done? Is it really a holiday? I think in the spirit of the Fourth of July there should be a holiday that lets us all celebrate our heritage and diversity. Imagine a big festival with all sorts of dance and food. That would be fun.

i think people need to move on and stop reliving the past. if they cancel columbus day, its going to make more people upset than it will make happy
People are taking things way too far these days! I'm waiting for the day when people try to cancel eachother's birthday parties, because they are offended that someone they know didn't live to the age someone is trying to celebrate.
Well, you do know that some religions don't acknowledge birthdays right?
I dont think they can erase columbus just because he did somethings they dont like. He did "discover" america all though he though he was in India... thats besides the point.
I just don't see the significance of the holiday, but as a Native person I see no offense by it, either. The guy wasn't thinking, that's all. It's not like his goal was to wipe out all of us. That came with later settlers. :(
