Single Mother in College

This is for the single mothers who are working hard in furthering their education. I am twenty-one years old and I started my first semester in spring 2006. It is hard to be a single mother trying to go to school because child need so much love and attention. I live in Albuquerque, New Mexico and I go to Central New Mexico Community College. I will be tranfering to the University of New Mexico after this fall semester and I am totally excited. I have to say that it has been a rough few semesters for me because I am working a job and juggling school. On top of that I have my precious little two year old named Raevyn. I never thought that it would be so hard being a mother at this age but there is more responsibility involved I never even knew about. I would like to say that if you are around the ages of 18-25 and would like to have a child, I would suggest to weigh the expectations. After I had my daughter someone told me that I will never sleep again. It is so true! I have not slept in years! My girlfriend Ashlie became a newly wed at age 20 and decided to add the new addition. I was very happy for her but truly sad at the same time... I think kids are beautiful and I would love to have more but at this age it is so hard to have this much to care for. I told her before she made the final decision about the life struggles I am having trying to adapt to being a 40 year old at the age of 21. I am happy to say that she had baby Madison but she is going through so much at this time... It is hard and even though she is married it just was not the right decision for her. She and I do activities with the kids and it is so much fun but the kid inside of me is screaming because I want to stay out late and have fun with my friends. I love my daughter very much and by no means am I trying to say that she is the worst thing that has happened to me. I find her entertaining and she is just the smartest little girl! I love being able to swing and run with her at the park. I love teaching her how to sing and dance. Being a mother has been the hardest and most loved experience I have ever had in my life. I am studing to become a Neuroscientist and I need all the study time I can get. I usually study when my daughter falls asleep. When I study in front of her she will throw the biggest fit ever. I am going to therapy because I need some time for myself. I feel alittle depressed because sometimes it feels like I'm doing more than I can handle. I want to get through college since I am the only one of my entire family who has an interest in going.  This whole blog was to say that I am proud of those mothers who are trying to better themselves and the family! I also would like to caution those who are not mothers yet and would like to know things about being a mother. I know the struggles and I am currently one of those mothers! I am up for any questions or comments or to talk!! I am sorry that this was extremely long...

Hi Crystal. I think it's great that you're making the effort to be both a mother and a student. My sister is a full time college student on top of being the single mom of 2 toddlers; one with serious medical issues. Keep it up! It is so worth it.

On another note, you might want to break your posts up into paragraphs. Everyone really appreciates it when posts are in discernible paragraphs versus one long paragraph!

Thank you guys I really appreciate it! I am so new to blogging so bear with me. Yesterday was my first day of ever doing something like this so I will keep in mind to separate with paragraphs.
Again I am sorry about the inconvenience!
