Another shooting-AGGHHH!!!

“Another Shooting??” I’m thinking to myself this morning as I get up to do my daily routine of getting ready for work and heading out the door. I’m watching the news, not even a year after the terror of the shooting in Virginia and only 1 week from the shooting in Louisiana. Again a student at the University of Illinois has shot and killed 4 women and one man, and supposedly injured approximately 16 people, that was before turning the gun on himself.

What truly posses our children nowadays to do these things to one another? How can their life be so horrible? People say there were no red flags really, he was a great student and kind the other students. So what makes someone reach that breaking point? Do they not have close friends that know them well enough to read these signs? Unfortunately today’s world seems to be so judgmental, we don’t let people in like we used to, and look that can cost people their lives.

They are saying though that the student was taking a medication for some unknown reason, but recently stopped taking it, and become uneasy the past two weeks. Are we prescribing medicine and not keeping a watch on them? Mental disorders should not be taken lightly, because then we must pay by tragedies such as these many campus shootings. Parents, peers, and friends, must be more involved in each other’s lives, that bond and involvement could save many lives in the end.

What are we doing wrong today that is causing students to reach that breaking point that is leaving families without children?? And at what cost is not befriending someone or not being involved are we paying??
